Are you interested in birdwatching?
Take a look at some of the bird-life we have here at WIND IN THE WILLOWS MANOR FARM...

– African Grey Hornbill – we have a pair that come and nest at the farm each year and then they migrate for the winter months. They had one chick which took flight in December and we have not seen them since the end of February

– Pied Kingfisher that is normally around the house in the late afternoons.

– Swallows I think they are Greater Striped Swallows that nest here every year. We have one nest at the entrance to the kitchen, one nest in one of our store rooms that we keep open for them and one nest pool side of the house. They are still here and I think they are due to migrate around the end of March or into April

– We have a pair of Barn owls that are resident just across our border in my neighbors property.

– We have sighted a pair of Giant Eagle Owls in the parking area. Unfortunately I have only seem them twice

– Grey Lorie – we are inundated with them.

– Rock Doves reside on the roof of the main house and are generally quite noisy

– Black shouldered Kite which normally sit on our power lines searching for prey

– Helmeted Guinea-fowl breed on the farm during summer and the last count we had was 62 Mature as well as chicks

– Francklin also seem to enjoy breeding on the farm and we have an abundance of birds and chicks.

– Blue Cranes we have 2 who nest at the dam in the evenings

- Egyptian Goose – we have a number of these extremely noisy birds at the dam

– Hadeda Ibis – we have a resident pair that come each year and nest in one of our large trees adjacent to the stables. They have 2 chicks each year and we watch them grow until they leave the nest. They are taught to search for food in the lawns and then around late December they fly off.

– Red Knobbed Coots build their messy nests in the middle of the dam. We currently have a population of 10

– Long Tailed Widow are usually seen on the farm road to our property

– Ground-scraper Thrush normally nest in our oak trees.
