Time off from work is precious, so we’ve designed our cottages purely with your indulgence in mind. Private saunas, comfy interiors and outdoor showers.

Actually, it does, and it’s right here in the Forest of Dean.

The Bower is our cosy little cottage for two (and the pup, obviously). Inside, it’s a cottage dream, log burners, soft interiors, plenty of character, and that feeling of home.

Outside, there’s a patio where you can cook your own pizzas, relax in the sauna, or simply sit and take in the atmosphere in our little corner of the forest.

Not to forget, all The Roost Retreats guests get access to our new nature pool.

We have availability for later this year in The Bower, and I know there’s nowhere I’d rather spend a cosy autumnal evening.

We love summer here at The Roost, but there’s just something about the way autumn feels here 🍂

An outdoor bath with your coffee on frosty mornings, hearty meals in the evenings, nights spent out by the firepit keeping warm, and everything turning a gorgeous shade of orange.

I would say The Nook and The Nest are just made for autumn. They really do make the perfect cosy cabin getaways.

And if you’re brave enough, you can dip in our nature pool.

At our cabins you can live a little slower, absolutely guilt free.

I know the feeling of going away and feeling a little guilty if days aren’t packed with plans.

But at The Roost Retreats, we encourage our guests to put relaxing first. Lie in till 11, coffee in hand. Sink into the outdoor tub at 2pm for an hour. Finally finish that book you keep picking up.

There’s no urgency here, no agenda, and the only real plans are walking the dogs in the surrounding forest.

When was the last time you managed to get away?

Not for a quick city break, not for a birthday. Just a few quiet days together, just because.

I think we forget how much being out in nature brings us closer. Around the fire as it crackles, on a slow walk through the woods, or cooking a simple meal with local ingredients.

Have the conversations you wouldn’t have on the sofa at home, devise your 5 year plan... or realise you don’t actually need one at all 🤷‍♀️

And just forget about the world for a little bit.

And especially with the forecast this week 🤭

There is so much joy in going somewhere new, making memories, and your dog being right there beside you, exploring and loving it just as much as you are.

There’s nothing quite like watching them live their best life, and not feeling that anxiety of leaving them behind.

That’s exactly why we make sure our cottages and cabins are as dog friendly as possible.

Because for us, a holiday is never complete without the dog.

My answer would be yes 👏

And yes, you did read that right, a home cinema. Because when we say luxury dog friendly cabin, we really mean it.

The Barn also features an infrared sauna, outdoor bath and shower, and lots of fully fenced outdoor space for your pup to roam around in.

I think we could all do with a few lengths of this today 🥵

Days like today were exactly why we wanted to create our natural swimming pool. Somewhere to cool off, and spend even more time outdoors surrounded by nature.

A few things you might want to know…

The natural swimming pool is open to all Roost Retreats guests, not just those staying in our cottages.

📅 Its open from 3rd July.

To make sure every swim feels peaceful, the pool is reserved exclusively for one retreat at a time. Each guest receives two complimentary 45 minute sessions per day, all bookable through your digital Guest Book before or during your stay.

Whether it’s an early morning swim before breakfast or a refreshing dip after a sauna on a warm summer evening, you’ll always have the pool completely to yourselves.

I think we spend so much of our lives searching for “more”, when actually it’s the simplest weekends that stay with us the longest.

The ones filled with countryside walks, listening out for wildlife, excited pups exploring new places and real, quality time together.

The Rookery is our newest dog friendly cottage for two, complete with its own private terrace, infrared sauna, little meadow garden, and access to our new natural swimming pool.
