For technical details, I strapped up bales of ‘cut’ wheat straw purchased from a pet store, and boiled them at 170f in my Buffalo unit (same as a Burko Boiler) for an hour. Strapping them reduced the size so they fitted in the boiler, but needed six house bricks on top of the lid to stop the straw and water spilling out. Then, after cooling and draining, I inoculated them with purchased spawn, and waited a few weeks. When the mushrooms started to pin, I sprayed them twice a day for five days, then harvested this morning. My next attempt will be more controlled with a growing tent, air circulation and lights.
