Our Story
In 2002 Dot, Brian, Trudie and Tim moved to Llandruidion to share the farm house. Llandruidion (meaning church of druids) is the small holding adjacent to Stones Cottages. They began to manage the land for wildlife planting 1000’s of trees. The fields were returned to traditional flower meadows, spring now brings an abundence of colour. Traditional haymaking techniques are used to cut the hay later in the year. Dot started vegetable growing and a new vegetable garden has been recently been started. Rosa and Iwan, Trudie and Tim's children where born soon after the family's arrival at Llandruidion.
In 2003 the barns adjacent to Llandruidion farm house came up for sale and Dot, Brian & Daniel purchased them and the idea of the Stones Cottages Retreat Centre was born. Work began converting the barns into cottages using environmentally friendly materials and technologies. The long term aim is to create a retreat centre for holidays and courses. Dan worked on the barns in between worldwide travels but finally properly joined the venture in 2006.
In late 2009 Dan and Shani moved to Llandruidion with Matilda and two week old Eliza. They gradually created a family home and management residence for the cottages and have recently finished the conversion of the workshop barn into the Workshop holiday cottage.
