It’s easy to lose track of time in the grounds, but there’s plenty to discover just beyond the gates of Saltmarshe Hall too.

The River Ouse runs close by, with quiet paths that follow the water, and Howden Minster rising above the town a short distance away. Nearby, Saltmarshe Delph Nature Reserve offers peaceful walks right on our doorstep.

Head into Howden and you’ll find independent shops, cobbled streets and somewhere to stop for a coffee before returning to the Hall for dinner.

Walking through Saltmarshe Hall, you really notice how the character changes from room to room. The Saltmarshe Suite was once the quarters for the Lady of the Hall, and we’ve kept that feeling of history and luxury with raw silk wall coverings and gilt accents.

If you prefer something a bit more contemporary, the Yorkshire Suite combines modern design with a freestanding bath that looks right out over the grounds.

Each of our rooms has a unique story to tell, and it's always interesting to see which room our guests feel most at home in.
