What's on in the Lake District in June?

The next bank holiday will soon be here and the forecast is, dare I say it, looking hot ☀️.

If you're looking to do something a bit different and haven't yet planned a break, here are just a few things in June, you wouldn't want to miss:

🏊‍♀️Epic Lakes Swim Coniston: 7th June 2026. Choose your distance and swim at Monk Coniston.

🌿 Ultra Trail Grizedale: 13th - 14th June 2026. A unique two-day trail running challenge in the heart of Grizedale Forest.

🏊‍♀️Great North Swim: 12th - 14th June 2026. A weekend of open water swimming in Windermere.

🚶‍♂️‍➡️Cross Bay Walk: 21st June 2026. Walk for charity across the Bay from Arnside to Grange Over Sands, with the Kings Guide to the Sands.

🗻Cancer Research UK Big Hike Lake District: 27th June 2026. Walk solo or with a group around beautiful Grasmere.

An appreciation post to our guests...

We love it when guests return. To know that they enjoyed their stay so much that they want to come back, means a lot.

This little thankyou note is what I found yesterday, when a group of regular guests left after their stay last weekend 🩷.
These gals travel from Aberdeen and swim their way around the Lakes, having an absolute blast in the process and this year is their 4th stay with us since 2023. They even took a little detour over the Hardknott & Wrynose passes 🫣, iykyk!

So, to all of our Cycle Barn guests, thankyou for staying with us. We really do appreciate it.

Who else is weather watching this week?

I don't know about you, but the weather in the Lake District recently has been much better than forecasted. Yes, it's been cool and a bit windy and it has rained at times but overall, we're not complaining 😉.

If you're planning a cycle tour of the Lakes, Witherslack Cycle Barn is the perfect bunkhouse for you. We are located in the South Lakes, with excellent cycling routes 🚲 straight from the door and we are on the National Cycle Networks 70 and 700.

The bunkhouse is nestled underneath Whitbarrow Scar, surrounded by scenic woodlands and only 5 minutes from the A590.
