The Masons Arms is an idyllic country inn and hotel set in blissful countryside.

A little reminder: the clocks go back this weekend, at 2am on Sunday 25 October.

That means Saturday night gets an extra hour, and we can’t think of a better way to spend it than waking up slowly in one of our suites, looking out across the Winster Valley with a cup of tea, before breakfast downstairs.

We still have one room left Saturday night, and November is lovely time to visit.

Looking for a cottage break in the Lakes with a proper pub on the doorstep?

Our two holiday cottages at the Masons Arms give you your own space, with a kitchen, room to spread out for up to 6 people, and dogs welcome. When you can’t be bothered to cook, the pub’s just next door.

Here’s how we’d spend 48 hours:

Friday: arrive, settle in, tea in the pub

Saturday: slow breakfast, a walk on the fells around Cartmel Fell, an afternoon in Cartmel or by Windermere, back for a pint with the view

Sunday: Sunday lunch before you head home

A bit of history to start your weekend 🍂

The Masons Arms was built into a zigzag on the old packhorse route between Kendal and Furness, a route upgraded to a turnpike road in 1763. It's marked as an inn on the 1851 Ordnance Survey map, and it's been welcoming travellers off this hillside for a very long time.

These days the packhorses have been replaced by walkers, cyclists and anyone after a cosy corner by the fire. Some things have changed, and some haven't: the ranges are lit, and the beams are still low.

Fancy a workplace with a view like this? 👀

We're looking for some new faces to join the team at the Masons Arms up at Strawberry Bank, and we've got three roles going:

All positions are LIVE OUT

Pay is £8–£13.50 an hour plus Tronc. On top of that, you get 50% off food on shift, 25% off food, drink and stays across all Robinsons pubs, fully funded apprenticeships available, 28 days' holiday and your uniform is sorted.

No experience? That's fine. We'll train you up. These are live-out roles, so they'd suit anyone local to Cartmel Fell, Grange, Windermere or the Winster Valley.
