The Houblon Arms is a delightful stone built coaching house in a prime central location in the Lincolnshire village of Oasby. The building dates from around 1650 and can trace its history as an inn nearly that far back. There are real fires, cosy seating, stripped stone walls and beams; a genuine English hostelry, not an interior designer’s recreation.

Originally called the Old Red Lion, the pub then took its name from the local landowner, Sir John Houblon, who was the first governor of the Bank of England. You can find his likeness on the back of an old £50 note.

During the summer of 2018 the building has undergone an extensive and sympathetic renovation and restoration, reinstating the historic beauty of a truly unique building. Furnished to a stately home standard, the restored 300 year old solid oak beams have been joined by a solid granite wall and bar, oil paintings and antique furniture making it a truly luxurious and relaxing space both for diners and for those wanting to enjoy a fantastic bottle of wine by the open fire.
