Bank Holiday Sunday plans, sorted.

Grasmere Sports is back on Sunday 30th August, bringing fell running, Cumberland wrestling, hound racing, dog shows, paragliding and plenty more to the village.

And while everyone else is busy doing something wildly athletic, you’ll find The Yan team in the food tent serving up our famous pies.

Entry is completely free, gates open at 9am and events get going from 10am. Parking is £8 per car.

Come for the sports. Stay for the pie.

We’re usually here to make you hungry, make you laugh and convince you that another pudding is probably a good idea.

Tomorrow night, look up… 🌘✨

A pretty special night is heading for the Lakes.

Tomorrow evening (12.08.2026), a huge partial solar eclipse will pass over Cumbria, followed by the Perseid meteor shower as night falls.

And we reckon our terrace might just have one of the best seats in Grasmere for it.

Come for dinner, watch the eclipse over the fells, order a cocktail and stick around as the stars come out. 🌌

Dinner reservations are already being snapped up, but there’s still time to make a night of it.
