We visited from Australia and planned to see family and friends in the local area. Gt Ayton is easily accessible from the main highways and offered the facilities that we required, eateries and shopping, with an historic vibe that few other places can offer. The Old Forge is central with parking facilities. The house is large. Two bathrooms made life easy. Kitchen was large and well set-up. The garden next to the stream was a stunning spot to have breakfast and entertain visitors. We have stayed in several ABBs on this journey and this place was our favourite. We would definitely book again if we are back soon. Thanks.

What a cracking review…good to know after all these years the Old Forge is still making guests happy 😃

We had a fantastic time on our visit. The property was ideal for what we needed. Amazing bathroom with TV which made my wife’s bath time massively extended!!! Which she loved and I loved as I had some time to walk the dogs. The location is right next to the river with a waterfall and great are for dog walking. Has a small garden that has a table and chairs. Ideal in the summer and mild weather. Easy short walk to the village which has a selection of pubs and restaurants. I recommend the Royal Oak dog friendly, people friendly great food. Also the butcher’s pies are or should be legendary. However not open Sunday or Monday so get in when you can. Over all a lovely property, perfect position for any time of the year. If you are taking a dog or pet it’s perfect. I would highly recommend. Alex was in constant email contact leaving contact numbers if we needed him or Jane for anything. Property has everything you could need too for a month or a few days we had a long weekend and eat out mainly but every convenience is at the property if needed. We will return at some point in the future for sure.

This is an outstanding property. Large spacious rooms, very clean and everything one could possibly need was provided. Lovely garden with the river and weir running at the bottom. Good location, shops , pubs, restaurants and takeaways all in walking distance. Would definitely recommend.
