Summer is almost here, Norfolk has emerged from hibernation and there's a host of exciting things to do in this neck of the woods. We still have some availability in our holiday cottages over the next few months so hope we can tempt you with a stay here at www.westheathbarn.com. To whet your appetite here’s a few ideas …
At Houghton Hall there's an exhibition by the acclaimed British sculptor, Stephen Cox. “Myth” will be presented across the park, gardens and hall interior. This is the largest, most comprehensive body of work the artist has ever exhibited and well worth a visit.
Then there's the 142nd Sandringham Flower Show - at the risk of being boring as I say it every year, it is our favourite day out in this neck of the woods. Not only is it a prestigious horticultural event but it retains a wonderful informal feel – more like a very large village fete than a commercial event.
Holkham never disappoints with a huge programme of events through the summer including their outdoor cinema which is great fun whatever the weather.
And if you fancy something altogether more peaceful (and free too), the Heath just outside our back door is looking gorgeous with a riot of wild flowers on display and offering endless opportunity for dog walks or simply taking a quiet stroll. Throughout 2025 the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) is undertaking a major new project (The Massingham Heath Project) which sees over thirty of their member artists follow the seasons and changing flora, fauna and landscape of an exciting rewilding project in West Norfolk. See their website for details.
We'd love to welcome you here - you’ll find full details on our website and do get in touch.
