All serene and peaceful here at West Heath ... harvest day today so sadly Autumn is on the horizon but it's still deliciously warm, the skies are blue and the days are long so what's not to like. We have just released some availability in The Dairy and The Cart Lodge in late August and early September ... some building work was scheduled but that's a little delayed so if you fancy a late summer holiday and a large dose of peace and tranquillity, this is the place to be. To whet your appetite, were offering a 20% discount on stays of 5 days or more. For more details see www.westheathbarn.com and give us a call.

Summer is almost here, Norfolk has emerged from hibernation and there's a host of exciting things to do in this neck of the woods. We still have some availability in our holiday cottages over the next few months so hope we can tempt you with a stay here at www.westheathbarn.com. To whet your appetite here’s a few ideas …

At Houghton Hall there's an exhibition by the acclaimed British sculptor, Stephen Cox. “Myth” will be presented across the park, gardens and hall interior. This is the largest, most comprehensive body of work the artist has ever exhibited and well worth a visit.

Then there's the 142nd Sandringham Flower Show - at the risk of being boring as I say it every year, it is our favourite day out in this neck of the woods. Not only is it a prestigious horticultural event but it retains a wonderful informal feel – more like a very large village fete than a commercial event.

Holkham never disappoints with a huge programme of events through the summer including their outdoor cinema which is great fun whatever the weather.

And if you fancy something altogether more peaceful (and free too), the Heath just outside our back door is looking gorgeous with a riot of wild flowers on display and offering endless opportunity for dog walks or simply taking a quiet stroll. Throughout 2025 the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) is undertaking a major new project (The Massingham Heath Project) which sees over thirty of their member artists follow the seasons and changing flora, fauna and landscape of an exciting rewilding project in West Norfolk. See their website for details.

We'd love to welcome you here - you’ll find full details on our website and do get in touch.

We've been very quiet for a while (long story!) but we've got our bounce back as we head into 2025 and hope to tempt you back for a bit of West Heath Barn peace and tranquillity in the year ahead. As the days start to lengthen there's a host of things to do in this neck of the woods whatever the weather throws at you. Holkham Hall is having its Attic Sale on 11th February and offers a chance to buy a piece of history (Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers are putting over 400 treasures that have resided in the storerooms, attics, and cellars of the estate under the hammer and whilst some of the lots have eye-watering guide prices, others are more affordable). Then of course there are the amazing beaches in these parts - not exactly sunbathing weather yet but perfect for an invigorating dog walk to clear the cobwebs.
If that's not enough to tempt you, the gardens at Sandringham are open from the beginning of February and our all-time Spring favourite are the snowdrop walks at Walsingham Priory. A sight for sore eyes and open from 10am-4pm from Monday 27th January to Sunday 2nd March.
Our website www.westheathbarn.com is fully up to date with availability and prices and if you have the inclination, we'd love to see you here again. Do get in touch.

It’s taken a long time coming but at last the sun is out and summer seems to be here to stay. If you haven’t yet booked your summer holiday we still have a few gaps in The Cart Lodge over the summer season - we're offering 20% off the remaining weeks in July and August as we'd love to see it used while the weather is kind (we hope!).
It's available as either a sleeps 4 or 6 option with the annexe, and as always dogs are very welcome. The Cart Lodge offers a peaceful and super comfortable stay yet within quick and easy reach of the very best that North Norfolk has to offer. See our website www.westheathbarn.com for details on availability and if we can tempt you, just give us a call.

We still have a vacant week in The Cart Lodge in late June and space in both cottages in July so if you fancy a dose of West Heath Barn peace and tranquillity twinned with a side of fabulous Norfolk, see www.westheathbarn.com for more info or give us a call.

We're all dressed up and ready to go on this stunning February morning :) The dustsheets are off, the decorating equipment stored away and the cottages are putting forward their best foot forward ready for the season ahead. The diary is steadily filling up but there's still plenty of opportunity for a dose of West Heath Barn peace and tranquillity. See our website at www.westheathbarn.com for availability and more info or just give us a call. We'd love to welcome you here during the year ahead

Heralding the arrival of Spring (almost), the Snowdrop Walk at Walsingham Abbey opened on Wednesday 24th January and how truly wonderful it looks. The woodlands surrounding the Abbey are carpeted with swathes of snowdrops and aconites in early spring with the daffodils, wild garlic and bluebells following a little later. A must-see spectacle, this is the perfect tonic to wash away the winter blues and fill your heart with pure joy.
Walsingham is a scenic 25 minute drive from us here at West Heath Barn so if you'd like to make a short break of it, we are offering stays of 3, 4 or 7 days and the booking calendar is open for 2024. We're just about done with our annual spruce-up, the alpacas are fluffy and gorgeous and enjoying the Spring sunshine and we're all looking forward to welcoming guests both old and new back here to West Heath Barn

At last summer is here - what a joy. The boys have had their annual haircut and are chilling in the paddocks, Woody is revelling in walks on the beach or across West Heath and we're all seeking out a shady spot to cool off and chill out when opportunity presents. We still have a few gaps in the cottages throughout the summer months so if you need a bit of peace and tranquility West Heath style, see www.westheathbarn.com for more info on availability and give us a call.

Houghton Hall's sculpture exhibition is back with a bang (in my humble opinion😏). Personally the last one or two haven't really done it for me but I can thoroughly recommend Sean Scully's "Smaller than the sky" which opened at the end of April. Visited this weekend with my sister (thank you to her for modelling in the pics) on a beautiful sunny day and loved it all, and of course the walled garden with the wisteria just coming to the end of its amazing best was simply stunning. If you fancy a gorgeous day out, add this one to your must-do list but do note they are only open Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (plus Saturdays June through Sept). For details visit their website at https://www.houghtonhall.com/ And if you still haven't sorted your summer getaway, we still have a few gaps in our cottages during June through to September. See our website for more info or give us a call. # selfcateringcottages

Woody is taking his modelling assignment of posing in the dog exercise paddock very seriously and is aiming to demonstrate that West Heath Barn is as relaxing for dogs as it is for humans! At last it really feels like Spring here with everything bursting into bloom and looking beautiful. The calendar is beginning to fill up for the year - if you need a dose of WHB rest and relaxation then just visit www.westheathbarn.com or give us a call.

A couple of new guests have just checked in over the weekend , doubtless attracted by the peace and tranquility that surrounds us! Whilst the deer is super-welcome, I've sadly had to evict the Spotted Woodpecker as I don't think the house qualifies as a suitable habitat. He's now joined the deer in the woodland and harmony is restored. We are soooo lucky to live here!
