Located in the heart of the Chilterns in the historic town of Great Missenden, Abbeyfield House offers sheltered housing for older people. We have 15 rooms of varying sizes, with kitchenettes and en-suite facilities. The home offers secure living in a warm and friendly environment with private rooms and as well as communal areas for meals, socialising and group activities.

Congratulations to our volunteer Matt Eaton on the publication of Madam V, a collaborative book telling the wartime story of Virginia Vernon and her determination to bring entertainment to British troops during the Second World War. Co-written with Virginia’s godson, Adam Fairclough, the book has already sparked some wonderful conversations with our residents after Matthew kindly gifted them a copy on his latest visit.

Abbeyfield Great Missenden marked the 70th anniversary of The Abbeyfield Society with a summer bbq, bringing together residents, families, friends and members of the local community for a memorable afternoon of celebration.
There were games, entertainment and, of course, delicious food on a beautiful sunny afternoon. We were delighted to be joined by local councillor Heather Wallace, Greg Smith MP, and Elizabeth Parker, daughter of Abbeyfield founder Richard Carr-Gomm, whose presence made the occasion especially meaningful.
It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Abbeyfield’s proud history, the strength of our local community, and the friendships that make Abbeyfield Great Missenden such a special place to live.
A special thank you to all the staff, trustee, volunteers and friends how helped on the day, to the generosity of local businesses Oasis Health & Beauty Spa, Rebellion B**r Co. Ltd., allaboutrose.com and Stirrett Butchers Prestwood, for their donations and to Fiona Harrison for the entertainment.
It was truly a very special afternoon.

We had a lovely time celebrating a very special birthday for our resident, Diana. Staff and volunteers joined in to make the day feel extra cheerful, and there was a particularly sweet touch: the strawberries on Diana’s cake came from our very own garden. A home-grown treat for a much-loved birthday lady!
