THIS WEEK - COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
We are running a drop-in consultation for the community and shareholders, to come and see the initial layout. This will then inform the design team as they go forward into RIBA stage 3 and planning submissions later in the year. The drawings will be available to view in person, with a trustee on hand for questions and to note comments. Rhind Associates Architects will run a 30-minute presentation of the drawings.
YOU CAN WATCH A PRESENTATION FROM THE ARCHITECTS ON OUR WEBSITE HOME PAGE.
Dates:
Wednesday 13th May 12pm-6pm with presentation by architect at 12.30pm
Thursday 14th May 12pm-6pm
Friday 15th May 12pm-3pm
Saturday 16th May 10am-1pm
All to be held in Town Hall undercroft.

We have over 700 members, which is wonderful news! Together, we’ve done it! We, the shareholders, are now the owners of the building. Repair works start Nov/Dec 2025 to make the building safe and watertight. Funding for main capital refurbishment will be sought for 2026-2028. AGM 2025 Video, Minut...

Update - as wasn't room in Crier this month for our Editorial - Apologies!

COMMS - Trustee Jayne is posting our updates in the windows of the building. To make things look smarter we are looking for someone who can volunteer to sort out / repair the noticeboards on front and we'll get some new perspex ordered - then we can ensure our news goes in there. Do let me know if you can make the noticeboards look 'refreshed'!

ADVISORY PANELS
Thank you to everyone who came along to our panels. The report is up on our website, and we welcome ongoing input and feedback. This information will be considered for the designs being developed by the architect.

BUILD
Local building firm, Pearce, are carrying out some immediate urgent work to secure the windows (which will mean at least one is temporarily boarded at the front first floor), deal with guttering and prop the roof. This will keep the building secure whilst the board continue to develop the design brief with the architect. Once the design and layout is settled upon then the scope of works can be issued for more major enablement work (ie ground floor layout, drainage, heating, roof works, window refurbishment, full electrics etc) to take place in the summer.

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
Once the architect has developed the drawings, we will share the layout with the community through the newsletter, website and socials. There will also be face to face consultation events for everyone to attend once we are getting ready to submit to planning – which is due to be around July time. We remain committed first and foremost to creating a viable business and building to the benefit of all the community, and with a focus on training and providing opportunities for local people.

BOARD We are delighted to have co-opted a new board member, Sam Percival, who brings valuable skills and knowledge to the board. He is a shareholder and a qualified conservation Heritage Accredited RICS chartered building professional.
Penny Maisey has stepped down from the board for personal reasons, and we wish to formally thank her for the wonderful support and commitment to the project.

Penny does leave a vacancy for the company secretary role. We are not currently looking for a new board member but must recruit a company secretary. This is a voluntary role, and a company secretary does not need to be a board member. If you would like to put yourself forward, please contact Rachel on [email protected] for more information about the role. Minute taking is not required, and the role can be supported by Rachel.

We thank everyone for their ongoing support! You can contact us at any time through [email protected] and www.theglobetorrington.co.uk

STAKEHOLDER ADVISORY SESSIONS - DATE CHANGES

Thank you to those of you who came along to our December sessions. Your input has been tremendously helpful so far and we really appreciate your taking the time to become involved directly with The Globe project.

Sadly, Jenny from Community Heroes has had to pull out from running the follow-on session this month, due to personal reasons. We are fortunate to have now secured the services of Simon from Spindl https://www.spindl-cic.co.uk/ and he will follow on from Jenny’s work thus far. Simon is tremendously experienced in the third sector and has a background in hotel and catering. We are unfortunately having to change the dates of the Training and Business January sessions to fit with Simon’s pre-existing workload. The Community session dates remain unchanged.

Confirmed Panel Dates:
10th Jan Saturday – 10 to 12 COMMUNITY panel – no change
16th Jan Friday – 1 to 3 TRAINING panel
16th Jan Friday – 5 to 7 BUSINESS panel

17th Jan Saturday – 10 to 12 COMMUNITY panel – no change
23rd Jan Friday – 1 to 3 TRAINING panel
23rd Jan Friday – 5 to 7 BUSINESS panel

Many thanks!
