East Antrim Diecast & Collectors Club

East Antrim Diecast & Collectors Club This page will be the focal point for the EADCC by providing details of meetings, events and collections.

The East Antrim Diecast & Collectors Club was established in 1985, and was the first club in Northern Ireland to hold a toyfair & swapmeet.

It is with sadness that the EADCC has decided, due to the economic climate and the decline in attendance, that it will no longer be holding toy fairs.

The East Antrim Diecast & Collectors Club which was formed in 1985 was the first club in Northern Ireland to hold such events, which proved to be a huge success and continued to be for 30 years.

However, the past few years has seen a steady decline in the number of collectors attending the toy fairs.

The members would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal dealers and customers who have supported us over the years.

A special thanks goes to the management and staff of the Sixmile Leisure Centre in Ballyclare for making us so welcome and we couldn’t have wished for a better venue to end with.

Despite the cessation of the toy fairs, the club will continue to meet on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding July) at 8.00pm at the Knockagh Lodge, Greenisland. New members are always welcome to the club.

Recent article written for the Newtownabbey Times:

The East Antrim Diecast & Collectors Club was formed in 1985 by two model collectors from Greenisland, Bill Barclay & Billy Watson, whose enthusiasm for collecting led them to recognise the need for such a club to attract like minded members. It wasn't long before the club started to grow and they set about arranging a toy fair and swapmeet, the first club in Northern Ireland to hold such an event, which proved to be a huge success.

Since then the toy fairs have grown in size from a humble portacabin to a spacious hall holding over 70 tables, manned by dealers from all over the North & South. covering all aspects of collecting from Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox & Tekno diecast models to annuals, badges, collectibles and much, much more.

The club meets once a month where members showcase items from their collection, discuss various topics and have a bit of banter over tea & biscuits. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding July) at 8.00pm at the Knockagh Lodge, Greenisland.

On a yearly basis the club makes a donation to a local charity and currently supports cancer causes in Northern Ireland.

The club regularly holds two toy fairs a year, Spring & Autumn, and still maintains its loyal followers who never miss an event. There is always plenty of bargains to be had and loads of craic!!

New members are always welcome to the club or if you just fancy seeing what its all about, why not come along to our next toy fair on Wednesday 30 March 2016 at Sixmile Leisure Centre, Ballyclare from 5.00 - 9.00pm.

At our February meeting the members put on a display of fire appliances as a tribute to our highly esteemed member Christie Porter, who passed away in January. Christie will be missed by us all. We extend our deepest sympathy to Christie's wife Janet, daughter Tanya and son Bonar & the entire family circle.

It's almost that time again. Our Spring Toy Fair is just around the corner. Hope to see you all there.
