⏰Tomorrow is the anniversary of Quintinshill rail accident.

You would be welcome to join us for a talk about this tomorrow. This presentation will given by Grant Cullen, a historian of railways and the Great War, who will reveal how the disaster unfolded and some of the personal stories of those involved.

The talk is free, but donations to support the work of our museum would be gratefully received.

To commemorate, The Royal Scots are hosting the Gretna 111th Anniversary Pop-Up Exhibition here at the Drill Hall. The Drill Hall was home to the Leith Battalion, many of whom were killed in the disaster. The free exhibition is open 10am - 4.30pm today and tomorrow.

111 years ago today...

On this day (22nd May) in 1915, an accident which remains the worst rail disaster in British history occurred at Quintinshill near Gretna Green; a few miles from where The Devil's Porridge Museum now stands.

It involved troops on their way to board ships for the Gallipoli/Dardanelles campaign. Sadly many people were killed and injured as result of this accident.
