Coming soon to Jane's B&B No 79 ... here is a few photos of work in Progress. 2 bedroom sleeps 3/4, first floor apartment with lounge/diner, kitchen bathroom and wc.

We thought of adding "priory view" but when the leaves appear ... the priory might disappear

However it is close to the town centre in Guisborough

opening approx 21st March 2026 and will be listed on the website as soon as we are ready to book guests - minimum 2 night stays

📚✨ Whitby Lit Fest kicks off this Thursday!

From 6–9 November, Whitby welcomes its first-ever literary festival — four days of author talks, storytelling, and creative inspiration by the sea. 🌊

Headline names include Lee Child, Miriam Margolyes, Sir Alan Ayckbourn, and Steph McGovern, alongside more than 50 authors taking part in events across town, with the main hub at Hetty & Betty on Baxtergate.

Festival chair Lois Kirtlan says they’re “proud of the incredible line-up” and ready to give everyone a warm Whitby welcome. ❤️

Whitby’s literary roots run deep — from Bram Stoker to Lewis Carroll — and now the town’s next chapter begins. ✍️📖

This is part of the 1954 Ordnance Survey map of Roman Britain. Of course a lot has changed since then (!) but the basics are still the same. Anything red is military, black is civilian.
