We can highly recommend this local walk to our guests. Free parking in Askham village next to Askham hall & the lovely Punchbowl pub oppersite🍻 then proceed to walk through the village 🏡🏡 past Askham Store, perfect for getting some refreshments & up onto the fell 🌿🌾🌼 🐄 🐑 This moderate climb walks you through beautiful cumbrian countryside. Looking back you will see these far reaching views of Lowther Castle & the Pennines 🏰 ⛰️ When reaching the top, look out for the cairn! where you're greeted with a fabulous 360⁰ view across to Pooley bridge & the Lakes 🏞 in the oppersite direction Penrith, the Pennines & across to Carlisle and beyond... at certain times of the year, you may be fortunate to be walking amongst Fell poinies 🐴🥰 🌾🍂🌿

Easter Holidays, Bluebell season, longer days, sunnier days and warmer weather (hopefully!)
Are you visiting the North Lakes this April?

DISCLAIMER - Bluebells in the Lake District start to appear Mid - end of April into early May hence the post about being the start of Bluebell season. The past TWO years the Bluebells have started to bloom Mid/End of April, hence April being the START of the Bluebell Season, by Mid May the past two years the Bluebells had started to wilt!

Image taken of the Bluebells at Rannerdale Knotts - please note it can get very busy here, we recommend visiting early or late, if you can go midweek even better.
Park responsibly or even get the bus into Buttermere and take a walk to the Bluebells.
Remember to NEVER trample on the Bluebells and stick to the designated paths, the bluebells are roped off to protect them.
Rannerdale is not the only place to see Bluebells in the Lake District there are many other places - do your research and avoid the crowds

Spring is just about here 🌼
and we love seeing the daffodils in full bloom & lots of lambs in the fields again 🐑
We've witnessed all seasons in one day the last couple of days!
Today has seen glorious sunshine ☀️ rain🌦 & heavy hailstones ❄️❄️ then sun again! 😆 but that's normal here 🩷
Our view from the bungalow of the Pennines constantly changes 😀 ⛰️🏔🏔🤷 which is truly wonderful 😍

First dusting of snow on the Pennines from our village today❄️❄️❄️ we are blessed with such great views of the Pennine mountains stretching for miles across
The highest point is "Cross Fell." It's the highest summit in England outside of the Lake district ⛰️ at 2,930 ft
You'll also spot some triangle shaped hills that 'pop' out in the foreground, these are Dufton Pike & Murton Pike 🏔 The forest you can see here in front of the Pennines is Whinfell forest where Centre parcs is located 🌲🌲🌲🌲🛖🛖
