It’s a while since I’ve done a Green Room library book pick!
Anyone who knows me will know I love rocks… looking at them, touching them, climbing them and drawing them. This selection has a number of different perspectives on rocks, from the historic to the poetic, the autobiographical to the scientific.
Hard recommend Under the Rock by - a stunning account of one man’s relationship to a geological feature, its history, mysteries and influence on his sense of self and home. I love all his books but this one is one of my favourites.
I am also a sucker for a vintage guidebook, and images of the old school climbers making first ascents with just h**p ropes around their waists, wearing wool shirts and hobnail boots.
You can also learn about the makeup of the land in Northern England - with its glacial scarring and multitudes of fossils 🐚
And of course there is a deep dive into the rocks of the Roman Wall, the latest book by our friend
When you stay with us you have access to our lovingly curated library with plenty to ignite your imagination or put your experience of the landscape into context.
See you for a cuppa in the Green Room soon ☕️
