Autumnal Harris is a great time to be here. Empty roads, slanting sunlight, golden browns, steely greys and shining blue skies (more often than you might think). Good time for hill walks and bracing beaches. Here are some pics from last week .. 28 remains open …

Exciting news from the Hebrides People Visitor Centre (the old Seallam in Northton) - significant funding to redevelop the display space and provide student/researcher accommodation! Very happy to have joined its board to help shape the future of this key heritage asset for South Harris.

Hebrides People Visitor Centre in Northton, Harris, will close on 20 August 2026, reopening in April 2028, with its genealogy service continuing throughout.
