Much has been said in the media recently about ferries and CalMac. I would like to say that not one of our April guests has had to cancel. There have been a few boat changes. One couple came via Stornoway instead of Tarbert. My own trip home recently cost £6 more, due fuel increases. Meanwhile, we have had a perfect, blissful week of weather (see previous post). Harris, whether you are driving north with views of the mountains or south with views of the beaches, welcomes you ♥️

Why would anyone come to visit Tigh Chailein, located in the tiny village of Maraig, in April?? 😊♥️We had a cancellation late May, and another in June that are still available at a ‘late booking’ discount.

If you are staying at Tigh Chailein this season I can’t recommend a trip to St Kilda with Kilda Cruises enough. It’s the trip of a lifetime…..

Just two weeks to go until the start of our St Kilda season and we are hoping that there will be an improvement in the weather.
There are just a few places left for this season: two places on the 29th April, one place on the 15th July, four places on the 17th of August and one place on the 26th of August.
Each trip has two possible days allocated to it to allow a little for the weather and we do not offer standby trips.

Ferry Update:
Despite what you might have seen on the news, weather permitting 🙄🤷‍♀️😊💨, this weeks guests at Tigh Chailein will arrive on Thursday via Stornoway as planned. Why? Because here on Harris we see it as part of our role to help guests wherever possible when making travel arrangements. I once read a quote by Lord Robbins ‘Today’s news is tomorrow’s chip papers’. I’m hoping he was right! CalMac, CMAL and the Scottish Government clearly have work to do…..yes, yes……I know thats an understatement. But our Harris boat, the Hebrides, will come out of dry dock mid April and life will go on. People are still getting on and off the island. And Harris waits with a warm (if windy) welcome. Some availability left this season.
