Something wonderful to do on a Thursday when you're staying at Moorfield.

Join us tomorrow (Thursday) for our first weekly talk on Harris Tweed, led by Taobh Tuath Tweeds / Becca Hutton.

Becca is an independent Harris Tweed weaver, a proud Hearach, a Gaelic speaker, a fantastic storyteller, and Chair of Northton Heritage Trust — among her many other voluntary commitments. She brings a real passion for the craft and the community behind it.

Following the talk, you’ll have the chance to visit Becca’s loom shed for a live weaving demonstration — a great opportunity to see the process up close.

Talks take place every Thursday at 11am at the Hebrides People Visitor Centre.
Entry is £10 (includes access to the exhibition) / free for under‑16s.

A request for all of our previous guests.

As we no longer have a presence on third party booking sites like Trip Adviser or booking .com it's not that easy to direct potential guests to reviews online.
Our guests are brilliant at filling in the guest book and I love reading all the fabulous things that people write.

However, we're all aware of being scammed and how we shouldn't share details and how holiday accommodation people are always trying to mislead people and take their hard earned cash off people. I therefore understand that people might be wary about doing financial transactions with a relative stranger.

So if you've ever stayed with us I'd really, really appreciate it if you could please write a few lines here about how easy it was to communicate with me, pay the deposit and pay the balance online so I can reassure people that dealing directly with the owner is a great way to organise a holiday.
Please just share your experience so I can direct people to this thread to offer them some reassurance.

Moorfield is a one bedroom, fully equipped property on the outskirts of Leverburgh in South Harris.
We're licenced for 4 people as there's an additional sofa bed in the living room. We're dog friendly and don't restrict the number of dogs that can stay and don't charge any extra for dogs. We've got a large enclosed garden.
We own and look after the property ourselves and also do all the bookings ourselves. No third party leeching commission off ourselves or our guests so we can pass the savings on.

Here are the only weeks we have left for this season at £850 per week.

I was trying to choose something to entice you all to come and read my post about availability dates that we have left for 2026 but I decided to show you my shortlist rather than my favourite.

Moorfield is a one bedroom, fully equipped property on the outskirts of Leverburgh in South Harris.
We're licenced for 4 people as there's an additional sofa bed in the living room. We're dog friendly and don't restrict the number of dogs that can stay and don't charge any extra for dogs. We've got a large enclosed garden.

Our prices for 2026 remain the same for the 5th year running - £850 per week, Saturday to Saturday. Reserve for a £150 deposit. Message me to arrange it as we manage the property and the bookings entirely by ourselves as we live next door.

DREAMING OF SUMMER

I was going to wait until after Christmas and do some marketing for Moorfield in January, which is pretty traditional in holiday terms.

However, ferry timetables to Harris have already been published by Calmac so you can buy your tickets now and I've had a few bookings and inquiries over the last week or so ....so here goes.

Moorfield is a one bedroom cottage in South Harris just outside Leverburgh. There's an additional sofa bed in the living room and is licenced for up to four people but with no limits on the number of dogs you can bring.
You can bring your dogs at no extra cost.
We charge £850 a week Saturday to Saturday. There are no additional charges or fees on top of this.
We live next door all year round and manage the cottage ourselves, we don't use third party booking sites and organise all bookings and payments via messenger, email and phone calls. Just message me if anything takes your fancy or you want a chat to find out more.
