Flodabay Farm Luxury Chalet and B&B

Flodabay Farm Luxury Chalet and B&B Flodabay Farm Luxury Chalet and B&B offers you peace & tranquillity with an abundance of wildlife accompanied by superior sea & mountain views

Flodabay Farm boasts two holiday packages. The first, being our very popular luxury chalet with hot tub. Perfect for couples looking to relax and take time away from reality. The second being our well known family B&B. These are nestled in the stunning and tranquil surroundings of Flodabay in the Isle of Harris. Our site boasts 2 secluded fresh water lochs – both of these are teaming with wildlife

, full of wild Brown Trout and home to the resident otters. Both lochs can be fished and we can provide rods should you require them. They are also superb for safe open swimming. We also offer a Golf driving range that boasts panoramic views of the Minch and mainland Scotland. All clubs and balls provided for your enjoyment. When you settle into bed at night, you will discover just how tranquil the island can be. The nights are dark and there is no late-night traffic noise, so you can enjoy a night of uninterrupted, blissful sleep. While we’re located right in the middle of some of nature’s greatest scenery, we’ve also been praised for our excellent internet service, TV and mobile phone reception. So you won’t be completely cut off from the world. Unless, of course, you want to be…

Just a wee update on Oscar the Otter and his ever growing family 🦦🦦🦦🦦🦦After the best weather recorded this year to date the Lochs are low but not to a point that it has hindered the fishing for Oscar and his wee scamps. In fact the guests watched them all enjoying our wild brown trout in the Lochs in all you can eat sushi heaven 😋 But dont worry George our repeat guest who is due in 3 weeks from Geordie land i have had a word and Oscar has promised he has left you just a few roaming round the Lochs for your amazing tied flies to entice them to the surface. We have recently started to concentrate on our smaller more vulnerable feathered friends with various feeding stations positioned so the vicious hooded crows and deadly Ravens feasting on the Wee family of Wrens/Robins/Chaffinches/Gold Crests/Gold Finches/Willow Warblers/Willow T**s and our very special guest this year who must be the star of the show Norman the Nuthatch are safe and guarded with chicken wire wrapped around there feeding stations. Freddy the Frog Family newly grown Froglets have been on the move as Wee Lochs around the Croft dry up to the point we are now learning from our lovely friend from Thailand Dang who grows her own Rice and Rubber plants as well as most tropical fruit you could imagine she has shown us how to create wee canals fed from the main Lochs to open up wee rivers to feed the wildlife when needed. Buddha seems to be the answer around the croft these days as we seem to accumulating more and more Buddha large Heads and figures 😇 As for the Holt/Chalet named after Oscars wee home we are adding a brand new Golf putting area and up grading the driving range with new target greens but keeping the wildlife in our thought as we do so. 4 Ton of sand delivered on Friday by Alistair from our local Family builders Merchants Macivers in Stornoway which is going to be the new French bowls area after a few guests advised us it is an ever growing past time to do while on holiday. So why not it can go at the side of the full size Table Tennis Table we have just set up next to the Poly tunnel to shelter it from the breeze. Norman the Nuthatch seems to think its a good idea as the net is now developing into its new wee hammock 😴🐦Any way we look forward to up dating the crofts progress as we head full on into the rest of the summer. Stay safe every one in these ever challenging times just try and have more Buddha in your lives and look if you get the time send us a wee message about any unusual wild life in your own back Gardens we could compare to what is happening on our wee Island 🧐😎🦦🦦🦦🦦🦦

Otters very playful this morning according to our leaving guests. Early risers catch the Otters 🙃🦦 In other news the croft is boasting plenty of self seeding trees/plants/wild flowers at the moment. Just need to keep the local woolly Maggots out and fingers crossed the wildlife will continue to flourish. A big shout out to Ian A our local crofter who helps keep the sheep at bay and the Quidinish boys we really do appreciate all your help over the last 20 yrs. As for bookings this year sadly down due to the Ferry situation but we are not alone in this constant struggle. Frogs in there 1000s which again is a good sign and the bird population seems healthy even even Nut Hatches and Gold Crests and the Hobby has returned for a 3rd year running. Buzzards are down for some reason hence the water ship down brigade (More chicken wire for the new plants etc). Any way we look forward to seeing all our new/Returning guests who have been lucky enough to get aboard without delays. Thank you for all your support as we need it more than ever to keep the Holt & the Croft moving forward. Take care for now. The Flying Courgettes 😎
