SEASONS CLOSER 2026 – A FANTASTIC FINISH TO THE GOLFING SEASON

Our Seasons Closer took place today, bringing the season to a close with a day of team golf and friendly competition.

A huge thank you to our Club Captain John Burks and our Lady Captain Katherine Fenton for their dedication and leadership throughout 2026 - your commitment has made an incredible difference to the season. Thanks also to the golf team for delivering such a memorable finale and the greenkeeping team for the presentation of the course.

JUNIOR GOLFING STAR OLLIE SELECTED FOR YORKSHIRE COACHING PROGRAMME

Rudding Park Golf is delighted to celebrate the success of one of our youngest golfers, 10-year-old Ollie Pritchard, whose achievements this season have earned him selection for the Yorkshire Golf Union coaching programme.

It has been a fantastic year for Ollie, with some impressive milestones along the way. He won the PING Junior Golf Tour Order of Merit for boys aged 10–12 and qualified for the Faldo Futures Final at The Belfry, hosted by Sir Nick Faldo himself.

Ollie has also enjoyed success across the Atlantic, securing two wins on the US Kids Fall Tour in the USA.

Representing the Rudding Park Junior Team three times this season, Ollie won his match on every occasion. With a current handicap of 20, his golfing journey is already off to a brilliant start, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

Congratulations, Ollie, on an outstanding season, everyone at Rudding Park Golf is very proud of you!

RUDDING PARK LADIES SEASON CLOSER – A YORKSHIRE TWIST!

A lovely day was had by all at the Rudding Park Ladies Season Closer, with the weather on our side, even if the courses we played were all a little different!

This year’s Yorkshire-themed competition came with a twist. Each team represented one of nine selected golf clubs across Yorkshire, with their club allocated via a numbered sealed envelope. The ladies discovered their mystery club before heading out to play our Hawtree Course using the scorecard and stroke indexes of their allocated club. A fun format that certainly got everyone thinking!

Taking the honours in this “not-so-fair, but really fun” competition were The Pannal Team, with Carol Whiteley, Esther Noland, Sarah Horvath and our Lady Captain, Katherine Fenton, scoring an impressive 82 points.

Our runners-up were The Bedale Team, comprising Liz Jones, Julie Procter, Jo Douglas and Jill Patrick, with 80 points.

A huge thank you to our Golf Team for organising and running the event so brilliantly, as well as looking after everyone with a delicious post-golf meal. You did a fantastic job, as always.

Finally, thank you to all the ladies who took part and embraced the spirit of the competition. It certainly challenged our thinking, but there was plenty of fun along the way!

GOOD LUCK SOPHIE – MARATHON NUMBER TWO!

Rudding Park Golf is incredibly proud of Sophie Orton, who will be taking on her second marathon this coming Sunday in York!

Sophie has already raised over £2,500 for two fantastic local charities, Saint Michael’s Hospice and Harrogate Mind, through her fundraising efforts. This is a brilliant achievement, and we’re delighted to see her continuing to support causes that make such a difference in our community.

IMPORTANT COURSE UPDATES

A couple of important updates for members and visitors as we prepare for the winter season at Rudding Park Golf.

Temporary Closure of Holes 15 & 16

Holes 15 and 16 will be closed from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October to allow essential drainage work to take place. We appreciate this may cause some disruption to your round and thank you for your patience while these important course improvements are carried out.

Winter Mats – Compulsory from 2 November

Winter mats will be compulsory for all play from Monday 2 November. Mats must be used when playing from the general area cut to fairway height or less. This helps protect the course during the wetter winter months and maintain the playing surfaces for the season ahead.

Please ensure you have a suitable winter mat ready. Mats will be available to purchase from the Golf Clubhouse shop if required.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping our greenkeeping team keep the course in the best possible condition throughout the winter.

LADIES CHARITY DAY RAISES FUNDS FOR SAINT MICHAEL'S HOSPICE

Ladies from across Lancashire travelled to Rudding Park Golf on Tuesday 29 September for a charity golf day in aid of Saint Michael's Hospice.

It was wonderful to welcome 32 ladies from Nelson Golf Club and other clubs across Lancashire, who once again enjoyed a fantastic day of golf and hospitality at Rudding Park.

Eva Pinder from Nelson Golf Club said: “As always, Rudding Park was an excellent host. Nick Brown and Jonathan Oates were first class, and Kate Rawlins was a great help in organising the day for the 32 ladies I brought along. After the event, Peter Banks reminded me that I have been bringing ladies to this event for the past 20 years. Long may it continue.”

Our September Members’ Newsletter is out now!

September has been another busy month at Rudding Park Golf, with season-ending competitions, individual achievements, team triumphs and plenty to celebrate across the club. Inside this month’s edition you’ll find:
