Nestling at the foot of the South Downs, The Thatched Inn, with its picturesque roof of Norfolk reeds and oak beams, has spectacular views over the Sussex contryside to the Ditchling Beacon. Apart from the standard menu which includes chargrilled steaks and fresh fish,our special menu changes daily. To complement the food, we have a fine selection of Traditional Real Ales, chilled lagers, fine wines and spirits, soft drinks, not forgetting of course a range of non-alcoholic beverages for the driver. Families are very welcome with the option in summer of relaxing in our attractive garden where the children can have fun in the play house.

Voted 4th best roast in Sussex… The Thatched Inn Hassocks Brighton Restaurant Guide | Local Guide Since 2011

The roast lamb at The Thatched Inn in Hassocks was very good! Tender, full of flavour and smothered in rich gravy, with crispy roasties, seasonal veg and a huge Yorkshire pudding. The sides were just as good, too🧀

Despite being fully booked, the food came out really quickly, which was impressive considering how busy they were, but it definitely didn’t compromise on flavour or quality!

They had walk-in space available in the garden, and luckily, it was a lovely sunny autumn Sunday on the first weekend of October, so we didn’t mind one bit☀️🍂

Looking forward to coming back in the proper winter to cosy up inside, but equally excited for a spring/summer lunch in the garden here. Definitely one to add to your list

🏡 The Den: A cosy, fully private room with its own bar, bathrooms and TV screen. Perfect for smaller celebrations, meetings, presentations, watch parties and Christmas get-togethers.

🍽️ The Restaurant: Available for private hire, giving you and your guests the whole dining space to yourselves. Ideal for larger parties, group dining and special occasions.

🍻 The Pub: Prefer something more informal? Our semi-private pub space is a lovely option for relaxed celebrations, drinks and gatherings with friends, family or colleagues.

What’s on at The Thatched Inn this October? 🍂

Quite a lot, as it happens...

🍯 Pop by this Saturday, October 10th to enjoy The Sussex Peasant's Big Autumn Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enjoy some of the best local produce, bakes and products for your kitchen this Autumn!

🍂 Our new autumn menu is now being served alongside our weekday set menu, and there’s plenty more happening throughout the month at our Hassocks pub, including our ongoing weekly offers to enjoy the same quality dishes but for a little less.

🐾 Our monthly dog walk returns Saturday October, 24th meeting at The Thatched Inn at 10:30am for tea or coffee before heading out with KAHU and returning to the pub for lunch.

🎃 For October half-term, from Tuesday, October, 27th to Saturday, October 31st, spend £10 with us and pick up a pumpkin for your little pumpkin to take home, while stocks last.

👻 Then on Halloween itself, we’ll have face painting from 4pm - perfect for feeding and getting the "little monsters" ready before heading out trick-or-treating. And if you’d rather hide from Halloween altogether?
Find yourself a cosy corner, a pint or something from our new autumn drinks menu and leave the trick-or-treating to everyone else. 🍺

🎄 And for the Christmas organisers: book a festive table for 8 or more on our 2 or 3-course festive menu before October 31st 11:59 p.m. and there are a couple of extra treats waiting - including a complimentary first glass of Prosecco for the group and a £50 Thatched Inn voucher for the organiser to enjoy in the New Year.*

If you book a table for our festive menu before the October 31st deadline, you'll also get your first glass of prosecco on us! 🥂

Whether your pub order is a classic cocktail or a freshly poured pint, we’ve got plenty worth settling in for this season.

🍁 Maple Old Fashioned: Buffalo Trace bourbon, maple, bitters & orange peel. Rich, warming and made for autumn.

🍸 Classic Sours: choose Scotch, Bourbon or Amaretto, shaken with lemon and sugar for that smooth, velvety finish.

A little taste of what’s coming… 👀 🍂

The Thatched Inn team got the very important job of tasting their way through some of our new seasonal dishes today... learning all the little details behind them and, of course, choosing a few new favourites along the way. 🍴

Calling all four-legged locals… this Saturday is for you.🐾

We’re launching our first monthly dog walk from The Thatched Inn on Saturday, September 19th from 10:30 a.m. for a morning for fresh air, wagging tails and good company.

Meet us at the pub for tea or coffee before we head out on a local walk with Local Dog Training Instructor Steph from KAHU, then make your way back to The Thatched for lunch, a drink and a well-earned rest with your pooch. ☕

Steph and KAHU are all about helping dogs and their humans build a shared language rooted in trust, understanding and mutual respect, so we’re very happy to have her joining us for our first one.

And if the Sussex weather decides not to cooperate?
Come along anyway. Settle into the pub with a coffee, hot chocolate or something to eat while your four-legged companion enjoys a dog-friendly treat of their own.

"Walkies" if the weather allows.
Pub either way.

We hope this is the first of many!
