🍂 A little change in the weather…

It definitely feels like autumn is beginning to creep in, with cooler temperatures and a change in the weather, but we still had a lovely day out in Tenby today.

We enjoyed a walk along the harbour and town walls, had a little browse for locally made gifts in The Nook Tenby, and then stopped for a delicious lunch at Vista cafe Tenby.

It’s easy to forget just how much there is to do in Tenby. Whether you fancy a wander around the shops, exploring the history of the town, a walk along the beach with your toes in the sand, or perhaps a boat trip over to Caldey Island, there’s something for everyone.

And although summer may be saying goodbye, there are still plenty of lovely days to be had exploring Pembrokeshire.

Just another reason why Tenby is such a great day out for our guests at Caban Tawel.

🍽️ We tried somewhere new last week... and we'll definitely be back! 😋

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Ffwrn in Fishguard. The beef, sourced from our favourite local farm shop, Cig Lodor Meat / Siop Carla, was every bit as tasty as we expected. But the real surprise? The sides! 🥗 Even as someone who's not always enthusiastic about my veggies, I could happily have eaten a plateful of them on their own. And the chips were amazing!

One of the best things about staying at Caban Tawel is having so many fantastic places to eat just a short drive away. If you're looking for somewhere slightly different during your stay, we'd happily recommend Ffwrn.

Have you discovered any hidden foodie gems in Pembrokeshire? We'd love to hear your favourites! 😊

I’m learning Welsh, so I thought we should go and see what’s happening. We had an interesting time; we bought lots of nice things, listened to music, and spoke a little bit of Welsh.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t speak Welsh – go to the Eisteddfod! There’s plenty of fun for everyone, and you can give it a try!

We took a little time out this afternoon and spent a lovely hour at Dreenhill Farm wandering through the rows of beautiful dahlias and the cheerful sunflowers. We definitely recommend a visit here to our guests.🌻

We all lead such busy lives that it's easy to forget to slow down, take a moment and really look at what's around us. 🌿

We've been trying to do just that this week, and nature has certainly rewarded us!

💙 Elinor caught a fleeting glimpse of a Kingfisher darting along the river.
🦋 The day before, she discovered a Hummingbird hawk-moth in the conservatory.
🐦 This morning, I finally managed to spot one of the tiny Long-tailed t**s that we so often hear chattering as they flit through the trees along the drive and in the woods.
🦋 And yesterday evening, while checking the sheep, this striking Magpie moth fluttered out of the hedge and landed on the track. I'd never seen one before - it's incredible just how colourful and striking moths can be!

Moments like these are a lovely reminder that some of the most special wildlife encounters happen when we simply slow down and take notice.

That's one of the things we love most about life here at Newton East Farm. A stay here isn't just about exploring Pembrokeshire's stunning coastline, it's also about finding time to pause, listen to the birds, watch the wildlife, and reconnect with nature.

If you're looking for a peaceful escape where you can slow the pace and enjoy the little things, we'd love to welcome you.

🏰⚔️ A day of knights, castles and family fun!

We had such a lovely family day out at Carew Castle & Tidal Mill recently, where the knights had ridden into town for a jousting tournament. Watching the horses charge across the arena and exploring the castle made for a memorable day.

And that's just one of the many castles to discover during your stay. From the impressive towers of Pembroke Castle to the prehistoric village at Castell Henllys, Pembrokeshire is full of history, adventure and great days out for the whole family.

There's something special about an early Pembrokeshire morning at Caban Tawel. 🌅

The first rays of sunshine filtering through the trees, birdsong all around, and the peace and quiet that makes you want to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. It's the perfect way to start the day.

We love hearing that our guests feel the same. Here's what our latest guests had to say:
"Lovely cabin and garden. We and the dogs enjoyed it so much that we've booked again for September. Great walk through woods to the river and good central position for visiting various beaches and towns."

The biggest compliment we can receive is when guests choose to come back, and these lovely guests booked their return stay the very next day!

If you're thinking about a late summer escape, don't leave it too long. We now have just one week remaining in August, after which we're fully booked until 26th September.

Book your relaxing Pembrokeshire getaway and experience the peace of Caban Tawel for yourself.

⚔️ The Knights are riding into Pembrokeshire this weekend as the spectacular jousting tournament returns to Carew Castle!

If you love castles, history and stepping back in time, Pembrokeshire has so much to discover. From the impressive medieval walls of Carew Castle and Tidal Mill to the magnificent Pembroke Castle and the fascinating Iron Age village at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, there are plenty of unforgettable days out waiting for you.

The best part? They're all within easy reach of Caban Tawel, making it the perfect base for exploring Pembrokeshire's rich history as well as its beautiful coastline.

Will you be cheering on your favourite knight this weekend? 🏰⚔️

🛡There’s a reason jousting became the superstar sport of the medieval world.
A lance could reach around 8 to 10 feet long and tournament lances were designed to splinter dramatically on impact, creating the unforgettable crack of a successful strike.
Now imagine seeing that from the edge of the tilt yard…
Experience live tournament action at Carew Castle this July.
