Rosemoor Country Cottages & Nature Reserve - Pembrokeshire

Rosemoor Country Cottages & Nature Reserve - Pembrokeshire Nine lovely holiday cottages close to sea and beaches in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park The broad sweep of St.

Formerly the country estate of a wealthy Victorian gentleman, Rosemoor is now an ideal retreat to experience the peace and tranquillity of Pembrokeshire. The Summers family who built Rosemoor over the course of the nineteenth century, had an eye for choosing the best location for their estate's Main House. Their insight into how best to enjoy the countryside around them still allows our guests to

take in the beauty and refreshment which this lovely unspoilt corner of Britain has to offer. From each of Rosemoor's 9 warm and comfortable cottages you will have wide vistas of the fields and the valley surrounding us. These will add to the sensation of spaciousness Rosemoor itself will give you; our large grounds, well away from public roads, make an ideal safe playground for children of any age, giving you peace of mind as well as body. We live on the premises and look after the cottages ourselves, so that we can not only ensure their cleanliness but also attend to any small problem that may arise during your stay. Relieved of fret, you will be able to unwind and benefit from a real holiday. Rosemoor is situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in the tiny village of Walwyn's Castle. The village is a collection of scattered farms and cottages and an old Norman church, with no pub or shop; its only industry the old quarry across the valley. We are in easy reach of many safe, unpolluted sandy beaches and havens. Bride's Bay is only two miles away at its nearest point. It is a nice walk of just 45 minutes through the fields from Rosemoor to one of the pubs in Little Haven for (Sunday) Lunch and back! Rosemoor is equidistant to Haverfordwest, the old county town, and the popular seaside village of Dale, both approximately 6 miles away. Rosemoor is ideally located for those who want to enjoy Pembrokeshire's wildlife; be it land- sea- or island-based. Literally on your cottage's doorstep you will find the Rosemoor Nature Reserve, covering 24 acres with a 5½ acre lake, home to badgers, otters, a great many species of birds and quite a number of rare plants. Orchids bloom in Rosemoor's grounds in the Spring. The lanes and fields surrounding Rosemoor are a botanist's delight as well, as are the grounds immediately surrounding your cottage: provided you time your visit well you will find orchids there which aren't always that easy to find elsewhere in the UK. We offer accommodation for all, including those who are less mobile than they would want to be. Rose Cottage, First Cottage and the Coach House all have accommodation on one floor, with the entrance within a single step from car access. Apple Cottage is specially adapted for wheelchair-bound guests. Full details can be found on our Accessibility page. If a pet is part of your family, you don't have to look elsewhere for your holiday accommodation: in all but three of our cottages a (one) well-behaved household pet is a welcome guest. Conversely, if you prefer a pet free environment, we have First, Spring, and Orchard Cottages for you, which we keep meticulously pet free. Should these be occupied for the week of your choice, we suggest you try the Granary of our friends Pat and Dave at Roch Mill, not too far away to the north of us. We are open all year round, and are often asked when is the best time to visit Pembrokeshire. From the seasons, perhaps Spring stands out for its dry and sunny weather and its profusion of wild flowers, but all other seasons have their attractions as well. In Summer the beaches come into their own; some are among the best in Britain. In the Autumn we tend to get the walkers and ramblers and those who like to have a look at the baby seals in the coves at Deer Park nearby. Winters are generally mild, but we do get the odd spell of frost! Rosemoor is located in the neck of the Dale Peninsula, and shares in the abundant sunshine this part of Wales gets. In fact, Dale, with parts of Cornwall and the Scillies, enjoys the highest number of sunshine hours of the mainland UK. Being so close to the coast, total rainfall is well less than the average for the UK. Obviously, we do get rain from time to time, which can be heavy at times, but the oft-touted adage "Wales = rain" definitely does not apply to where we are.
