And it's a wrap. Nearly ten years of welcoming guests has come to an end and I've hung up my Mrs Fawlty apron. There has been laughter, scrapes and more than a few tears, but we've closed the doors. It's a wrench. I thought it was the perfect house, my husband rebuilt it and it's the only project we've broadly agreed on step by step. The Old Police House is now a private home and we wish the young family every happiness. We've made lifelong friends and hugely appreciated the support of a few key people, in particular the Pump On The Green. I could write a book about the many permutations of lost keys. And I will long dine out on stories that are unprintable even on social media - think 50 Shades of Grey and an old police house and, no I didn't get it either, why would anyone demand M&Ms? Perhaps the sweetest moment was the time I overslept and woke to find one of the guests cooking full breakfasts for a houseful. She said simply: 'Well you told me to make myself at home'. Thanks one and all. It's been a blast.
