There is something very special about walking through those gates for the first time each year.
Hay festival is nearly here again, and the whole town is starting to gear up!
We shared a few thoughts, favourite moments, and little tips for anyone visiting this year, especially if it’s your first time.

It’s a perfect day to make art… and yes, there’s now ink on things that definitely weren’t meant to have ink on them

This year we’re hand printing all our welcome bags, one by one. Every booking gets one your own slightly wonky, completely unique bag to fill with books and bits from Hay on Wye

Are they perfect? Not at all
But they’re made with love, a bit of chaos, and probably a few inky fingerprints along the way

Honestly we like them better that way

Well this is exciting news! Just under 2 weeks to go until the awards evening!
We are very excited to get our glad rags on and enjoy a wonderful evening with some of Herefordshire’s finest tourism businesses.

Sam wanting to be super supportive by teaching me how to lay flooring… but he also wants it done ✔️ and turns out, it’s not as easy as it looks.

For some reason this board didn’t want to play, and as much as I love learning new skills, I think I’ll leave this one to the expert.
I am strong, I am powerful, I am not great at laying floors. 🤣

Sneaky little universal truck hiding in the bushes last year. Meanwhile, the cast and crew of the sensational ‘Hamnet’ film scenes just down the road from our peaceful glamping site! The rain hasn’t stopped, but we are now all dry inside and have started on the ceiling with an amazing wood effect paper. Going to look like a cozy barn when it’s finished.
