We love how moody The Peak District look sin Autumn.

We have the most beautiful array of Oranges, reds, browns & greens as the landscape changes colour heading into winter.

We only have a few weeks left to our hosting season for 2026 ....

Those brooding October skies have been very much in evidence recently, piled up on the hills, heavy with rain, while the lazy winds have swept through the bracken. I always think this beautiful house looks at its best in conditions like these, hunkered down in the hills against the elements. The sheep pay little attention too, their quest for continual snacking never deterred by a spot of autumn. Happy T-ewes-day!

No matter how much I try to deny it, there are clear signs of autumn in every view now, with berries on the hedgerows, tips of gold in the trees, and quiet, misty mornings. But there are still so many shades of green shining from the fields and woods, and I'm determined to enjoy every single one of them while they last. This is the little hamlet of Leadmill, watched over by some happy sheep in the hills above for those of you with eagle eyes. Happy T-ewes-day!

From mass trespass to Britain’s original National Park… 👣💚

On 24 April 1932, hundreds of walkers gathered on Kinder Scout – the highest point in the Peak District – in what became known as the Kinder Scout Mass Trespass.

The protest became a defining moment in the campaign for the right to roam and helped put public access to the countryside firmly on the agenda 👣⛰️

Just 19 years later, in 1951, the Peak District became Britain’s first National Park – paving the way for the National Parks we enjoy across the country today 💚
