Cornwall Aire for Campervans Road Trip Part 7 - Final Leg 🚐

Well, we thought we were on the final leg. The van had other ideas and decided we needed one more unscheduled stop. Long story! 🤣

Luckily, we’d landed in a wonderful campsite in Manot, in the beautiful Charente Limousine area.
After all the excitement of the south of France, being in the middle of nowhere was actually rather lovely.

We spent our days by the River Vienne watching Herons and Cormorants go about their business. There was even a resident owl who had plenty to say in the evenings. 🦉

The van may have temporarily stopped, but we were quite happy to slow down with it. For a little while, anyway… 🤣

Road Trip Part 6 🚐🇫🇷

Somehow we found ourselves back in Cahors — the scene of the great tyre blowout! 🛞💥 This time, we were there to collect two more tyres and actually see the town.

We found a free campervan park-up close to the centre, hopped on our bikes and went exploring. Cahors was gorgeous, with beautiful bridges everywhere and reflections that made us stop for far too many photos 📸

With four shiny new tyres now on the van, we headed to Rocamadour, the historic village built dramatically into a limestone cliff. What a place! We only had time for a quick look around before we had to get some miles under our belts and head homewards.

At this point, we’re hoping the tyres enjoy the scenery as much as we do — they’ve cost enough to deserve a holiday of their own 🤣

Road trip, part 5! 🚐🇫🇷

What a day! The Verdon Gorge was breathtaking, with water so vividly blue it hardly looked real. 💙

With kayaking ruled out by my dodgy shoulder and a pedalo ruled out by Pete’s dodgy knee 🤦‍♀️, we hired an electric boat for an hour. Between us, we made one fully functioning boat crew! 🤣 Gliding quietly through the gorge, surrounded by those dramatic cliffs and brilliant water, was pure magic.

Of course, we couldn’t make it through the whole hour without a little adventure. We ran aground in the shallows, and the back of the boat did seem to be sitting slightly lower than the front… no offence, Pete! 🤣 A quick, unplanned—but very welcome—dip to push us free, and we were soon cruising again.

We then had just enough time for a quick visit to nearby Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages. It completely lived up to its name, with every corner feeling wonderfully picturesque. It’s the most beautiful village we’ve seen on this trip. I only wish we’d had longer to explore, especially after seeing photos of it glowing under the night lights. ✨

road trip, part 4! 🚐🇫🇷

First stop: the stunning Plage du Buse at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, complete with Le Cabanon little beach restaurant that sits right on the water edge. Not your average beach shack 😍

Then an hour and a half down the coast to the stunning town of Sainte-Maxime, where we managed to get a pitch on our favourite campsite which is literally on the beach. Proper soft sand like Cornwall finally too, rather than the shingle we’d been getting used to! 🏖️

St Tropez to our left, Port Grimaud to our right, and a steady parade of luxury boats travelling between the two. We were very happy to let them get on with it while we sat and watched from our gorgeous patch of sandy beach 😂🛥️

road trip, part 3! 🚐🇫🇷

From Monte Carlo, where people pay eye-watering amounts to park their flashy cars outside the casino, to the Monaco Yacht Show, where some of the “boats” looked more like ocean liners 🤣🛥️

And yes, we did end up driving around Monaco in our van by accident. The turns in roads were unreal especially in a 7m van 🤦‍♀️ It’s also not looking its best at the moment after the accident. We’re still waiting for someone to offer us valet parking 😂🚐

Then on to the understated beauty of Cap d’Ail and wonderfully chilled Villefranche, with its gorgeous choice of restaurants 😍

The top half of the French Riviera hasn’t disappointed!
