Happy October all, the nights are drawing in but the sun is still about, what better time to spend some time at our nature rich hostel

Going to a local gig? Having friends visiting and your house isn’t quite big enough? Walking the LEJOG or Pennine Way or just exploring the best that the Calder Valley has to offer?

Just to catch you up..

🛌 We have 3 dorms (4 & 6 bed) from just £30!! per bed per night

🧑‍🦽‍➡️We have a “fully accessible room” with wetroom, a desk and space for all mobility aids

🛏️ There are another 11 private rooms with a mix of double, single and mezzanine beds for all groups and guests

🚿 All of our rooms are fully en-suite with toilets, showers and wash facilities

📸 We have a special exhibition on showing the “South Pennine Series” of local photographer Charlie Meecham with way marked walks to each location.

🚴We are an “Active Hub” with secure cycle lockers and e-bike hire incoming

🥰 We have a dry room for wet clothes, a cosy snug with woodland views and wood burner

Plus…

🚙 A large free car park for all hostel guests

🚂 We are only 10 mins walk from the train station where a bus stops right outside the hostel

And…

🛍️ we are just 5 mins walk away from the heart of Hebden Bridge, with lots of shopping, bars and foodie delights

This will make so much difference to keeping active, fit and healthy in the Upper Valley. Works like this will support our “Active Hub” status funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. We offer secure cycle lockers E-Bike hire, guided walks runs and workshops and so much more.

Thanks so much to everyone who came to visit the hostel yesterday as part of - we had over 70 people come to hear and see the history of the hostel, view 50 years of IOU creativity and see local photographer Charlie Meechams incredible “South Pennine Series” work spanning more than 4 decades.

These exhibitions are open to all hostel users.

Good to see so many of you already today. Come down and meet the artist as part of - you can have a brew, check out the hostel and even have a look inside the Birchliffe and learn the history of our buildings.

Lots of parking, you can walk, get a bus and we even have a coffee truck.

Landscape Through The Lens Exhibition - IOU Active Hub are delighted to present a series of local Calderdale landscape prints, all captured by artist and photographer Charlie Meecham. Each image is accompanied by suggestions for a walk close by along with coordinates so you can take your own version of these beautiful landscapes

Join us for a day of experiential workshops based at IOU Hostel and surrounding landscape, working with a range of creative facilitators, makers, artists and exploring the connection between creative practice and nature.

A chance to explore a range of creative disciplines including movement, visual art and music, but also have the opportunity to deepen your personal practice.

The 1 day event includes 3 sessions plus lunch at the Hostel

Tickets are priced at £30 for the day for those individuals or organisations able to cover the participant cost
