Every week brings The Civic Hall a little closer to opening!

The bones of the building are done with the brickwork restored, the roof timbers strengthened, and the windows in.

Now it's all about the details that turn a building into a hotel. Paint, fabrics, furniture, and finishing touches are being chosen all with your comfort in mind.

The aim is to create spaces that feel relaxed and welcoming, whilst still keeping the history and character of The Civic Hall at their heart.

Did you know Hardcastle Crags is right on the doorstep of Hebden Bridge?

With more than 15 miles of footpaths winding through the woodland and along the river, there's plenty to explore.

There's plenty of stunning scenery, waterfalls, and Gibson Mill at the heart of it all, where you can stop for coffee, cake and a chance to rest your legs before heading back.

Just one of the many places worth visiting during your stay in Hebden Bridge!

History is a huge part of The Civic Hall, and even its name has a story!

The building itself was built in the 1890s as the home of the Liberal Party, before Hebden Royd Council bought it in 1956. It was then given a new purpose and, for the first time, became known as The Civic Hall.

In the 1970s, it became the Hebden Bridge Sports and Social Club, before taking on another life in the '80s as The Greenwood Inn Hotel & Pub. This marked the first time the building was used as letting rooms and a hotel!

In the early 2000s, it changed hands again, and a few years later became The Crown Inn.

Now, more than a century after the building first opened its doors, it's coming full circle and returning to The Civic Hall.

Hebden Bridge itself is a town full of history and character, so bringing the building back to one of its original names felt like the right way to start its next chapter.

Opening this Autumn, right in the heart of the town that shaped it.

There are a lot of people working behind the scenes to get The Civic Hall ready to open.

From the local construction teams and tradespeople restoring the beauty of the building to those working on the bookings and getting the hotel operations ready, there's a lot that happens before doors can open.

Not to mention the talented young artists in the area providing us with some stunning artwork!

It's a very different mix of skills and expertise, all working towards the same goal, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.

Over the next few weeks, we'll introduce some of the people helping bring it all together!

There's a lot that goes into turning a building into a hotel.

It's not just paint and furniture. There's rewiring, replumbing, new windows, insulation, and hundreds of smaller decisions that all need to come together to make the finished spaces feel right.

And throughout all of it, keeping what makes The Civic Hall special has been just as important as everything being added.

There's still plenty to do, but the countdown is officially on!

Another step closer to bringing the rooms to life!

There are a lot of decisions that go into creating a hotel, and choosing the right colours for each space is a big one.

A few different palettes are being considered at the moment, with each one bringing a slightly different feel to the different areas of The Civic Hall.

Which one would you choose?

The Civic Hall has been part of Hebden Bridge for many years, and celebrating its character has been one of the most important parts of this project.

As the renovation progresses, more of those details are coming back to life.

The stone, the high ceilings, the timber, and the building's historic details all tell a little bit of its story.

This week, it’s new arched windows going in! Shaped to match the building's original design, just with a bit more warmth and comfort for our guests.
