Many of you will know that the campsite became an enclosed field for dogs and their people to enjoy special times,

We’ve entered the British Dog Fields competition to be Cornwall’s favourite field. Closing date for voting is the 12th of September!

If you have fond memories of camping here with your dogs and would like to cast a vote in our direction, we’d love to win it for Jester!

With many thanks Dee, Cath and Beano.

The link to vote can be found on our beanosballpark fb page!

It’s time for the ‘temporary’ campsite, (that originally, was set up just for the solar eclipse in 1999), to close its doors, ‘Gateboy’ to hang up his rainbow flag & the Barbies to be able to retire: (albeit rather disgracefully, in an alternative art installation in Falmouth!)

Our lives have always ‘evolved’, rather than being shaped by conscious decisions or business plans & now, the closure of the campsite is part of that evolutionary process. In the early days, we had fields full of happy campers, who were delighted & relieved to find a gay-friendly environment in the middle of nowhere. The growing development of equality in our society is, of course, to be celebrated & it means that anyone can go anywhere for their holidays. Over recent years a lot of our campers preferred to stay in places where they could have guaranteed sunshine & a roof over their heads instead of canvas. And we too, after 16 years of spending all our time working on the campsite, whilst having a multitude of buckets in the house, to catch the leaks, feel we need to put our energy into repairing the roof over our own heads too!

In the last year, without the campsite, Out in the Open really has gone to the dogs! Our dog exercise fields have rapidly been filled with happy, smiley, bouncy canines & relieved owners who have found somewhere where their four-legged friends can play safely. There are now more canines than there ever were campers! We have also introduced a new dog sport: Hoopers, which is more inclusive than agility, as any dog can do it.

Out in the Open has had a very colourful & vibrant history & to celebrate this, over the next few weeks, we aim to post a series of albums of the campsite through the years. We have had a lot of laughs, made some great friends & have a wealth of memories & we hope you do too. Indeed, we will look back on all the stories & fun times we’ve had - & maybe even write the book! We’d like to thank all of you for being part of that history & invite you to post below any photos of your special moments here. We’re not disappearing & this page will remain open, so you can keep up with what we’re up to & chat to us. And maybe if you are holidaying in Cornwall with four-legged friends, give us a ring, book a slot in our field & come over to play! If you’d like to keep up with our adventures visit www.facebook.com/beanosballpark to see where life takes us next.

We’d like to wish you all many more happy holidays, wherever they may be & if you’re passing, it would be great to catch up. We won’t be putting your tent up, but you might get a cup of tea!

For 2016 ….

The New Year is fast approaching & Out in the Open is 'on the change'!

The campsite was never a commercial venture. It started by accident, with the solar eclipse in 1999 & has opened every summer since.

In those 16 years we’ve had fun, loads of laughs, met some fabulous people & had a great time. But like the Barbies, we're a bit worn out & ready for some new adventures. So we have taken the hard decision not to open the campsite in 2016. We need instead, to concentrate on repairing our house, find the time to look after ourselves & see what might happen next.

We'd like to thank all of you who have visited & supported us over the years. But we feel that the time is right for change & who knows what will evolve? Keep in touch on this page to see what we get up to & what new adventures develop.
