🔥🌶️ PORTHLEVEN EATING CHALLENGES 🧅😭

Think you can handle the heat of the chillies, or are you brave enough to take on a raw onion without shedding a tear?

Join us on Sunday 18th October at The Ship Inn for an afternoon of pure food eating chaos, great tunes, and village fundraising!

Weather permitting, we’ll be outside soaking up the fresh air; if the Cornish weather doesn't play ball, we’ll head indoors to keep things sizzling.

HOW THE CHALLENGES WORK

🌶️ 3rd Annual Chilli Eating Competition (3:30pm)🔥

Contenders will eat their way up the Scoville scale round by round, starting gentle and building all the way to the blistering heat of a Carolina Reaper. 10ish rounds, 1 glass of milk! Need any more or drop out, and you’re eliminated—last person standing takes the crown!

Oh, and the fun don't stop there!!!

🧅 1st Ever Onion Eating Competition (4:15pm)😭

Simplicity at its most brutal. Competitors go head-to-head to devour an entire large raw onion (fully peeled, topped, and tailed—so no roots or skin to worry about!). No cooking, no excuses—the fastest to finish the whole thing wins!

THE SCHEDULE
2:30pm: Sign-ups open for both events
3:30pm: Chilli Eating Competition kicks off
4:15pm: Onion Eating Competition begins
5:00pm: Live music from The Budgie Smugglers

🏆 Prizes to be won for our brave winners!

All proceeds raised go directly towards the Porthleven Lights. Massive thanks to Cornish Chillies for sponsoring the peppers!

What a lovely evening in Porthleven last night! 🌊⚓️

We stopped to watch the Search & Rescue teams carrying out some training in the harbour. It was really interesting to see them in action and the work that goes into keeping people safe around our coast. 👏🛟

Such a beautiful evening to be down by the harbour too — Porthleven really is a special place. ❤️
