Due to the ongoing fire risk in Cornwall. We are no longer allowing fires on site.

Bbqs are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground. Fire buckets are situated behind our outside seating areas. We ask you to have a fire bucket alongside any bbq in case of fire.

Any leftover hot coals must be exstinguished with water and can be deposited in the metal coal bin behind the outdoor washup.

Many thanks πŸ’™

⚠️ VERY HIGH WILDFIRE RISK ⚠️

Powered by Bridge Bike Hire

Good morning everyone,

Here we are at the start of another week... and yes, I'm talking about the wildfire risk again! I know some of you are probably thinking, "Dave, not this again!" But unfortunately, it's something we simply can't ignore.

Today, the wildfire risk across much of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is once again High to Very High. We've already seen several wildfires here in Cornwall over recent weeks, and while thankfully they've been nothing like the devastating fires currently affecting France and Spain, it only takes one careless moment for a small fire to become a major incident.

The recent spell of dry, sunny weather has left our grass, heathland, moorland and undergrowth extremely dry. Even though temperatures today aren't exceptionally high, a combination of dry vegetation, low rainfall, sunny spells and a fresh breeze means that any fire could spread surprisingly quickly.

Across parts of southern Europe, the situation is heartbreaking, with tens of thousands of hectares burned, entire communities evacuated, wildlife displaced and firefighters working around the clock. We certainly don't want to see scenes like that here in Cornwall, and thankfully we are nowhere near those levels. But it's a reminder that prevention is always far easier than putting a fire out.

If you're heading out for a walk, to the beach, or exploring our beautiful countryside today, please do your bit:

Never use disposable barbecues on grass, cliffs or moorland.
Don't throw cigarette ends from car windows.
Take all litter home with you, especially glass bottles, which can concentrate the sun's rays. Park responsibly and avoid stopping on long, dry grass, as hot exhaust systems can ignite vegetation.
If you spot a wildfire, move to a safe place and call 999 immediately, asking for the Fire Service.

Let's all work together to keep Cornwall safe this summer. With a little bit of care and common sense, we can help protect our countryside, wildlife, firefighters and communities.

Thank you for helping to spread the word, and have a safe Monday, everyone.

Kind regards,
KWT Dave
