🌤 This week we're at Porthoustock, a fishing hamlet on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula.

From the 1890s it developed into a stone‑quarrying port: dark green gabbro was mined locally, stored in a large concrete silo, and exported via a jetty built for loading coastal trading vessels

The RNLI opened a lifeboat station in 1869, which notably rescued survivors from the wreck of the SS Mohegan in October 1898; the station closed in 1942 and the boat house is now the village hall Today quarrying continues and the hamlet remains a quiet fishing and diving base close to The Manacles reef.
