The best days start with your boots on, not your car keys.
At Kaya, you can head out hiking straight from your door, with the Cat’s Back right nearby and the Black Mountains ready to give your legs a proper workout.

Make a day of it. Pack lunch, take the scenic route and stop whenever the view deserves it. Then come back to somewhere comfortable, pull off your boots and put the kettle on. There’s a particular satisfaction in spending the evening looking towards the hills you’ve just walked.

Karen chose a weekend at Kaya when she realised she needed some stillness. She slept, walked, journalled and watched parts of the day unfold from bed.

But the bit that really stayed with us? She didn’t feel guilty about taking things at her own pace. That’s what we hope you’ll find here: somewhere you feel comfortable doing exactly as much, or as little, as you need. Reading that Karen found it made us feel proud of what we’re creating, and very grateful to be able to share it.

We feel very lucky to call this corner of Herefordshire home. Settled on the Black Mountains with countryside all around us, there’s plenty to appreciate - and that doesn’t stop when the sun goes down.

The Orionid meteor shower is active now, peaking around 21–22 October. Clear skies permitting, it’s an extra reason to wrap up, step outside and spend a little time looking up.

Some mornings, you wake up and the sky gives you every reason to stay exactly where you are.

At Kaya, watching the sunrise can be a duvet affair. Tucked up in bed, you get to see the first light creep across the countryside while you slowly come round to the idea of being awake.

Eventually, coffee calls. Take yours outside, with something warm pulled over your shoulders, and feel that lovely contrast of cool morning air against a still-sleepy face.

There’s no need to get on with the day just yet. This bit is part of the holiday too.
