The perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon sat next to the Escley Brook or if the weather is less than perfect you’ll always find a spot inside with two lounges and a restaurant room (dining room sounds too formal)

Tiny, rare and completely fascinating.

This Long-horned bee was discovered by living here at The Fold. They can be identified by the male antennae which are often longer than their bodies. They are scarce and unfortunately in decline in the UK mostly living in Southern England and along coastlines.

Their presence is a real sign of a healthy, biodiverse landscape, thriving in wildlife rich habitats with minimal disturbance. To have them choose The Fold as home feels incredibly special and reinforces our commitment to landscape management as we balance tourism and nature.

Sometimes our smallest guests tell the biggest story.

So we are doing something that we think is pretty cool!

Today is Sir David Attenborough's 100th Birthday! What a guy and what an inspiration. He has dedicated himself to educating us all with his TV programs and to have a positive impact on the world.

This is where we can claim to be alike, as we continue our quest to create sustainable, enviromentaly positive holiday experience we would like to share our new initiative to spread our positive influence beyond our bird filled hedges.

Every guest who stays with us now will have the opportunity to take a little bit of The Fold with them.

Every year we have hundreds of oak saplings spring from the earth, in such numbers that eventually they unfortunately choke each other of light and neutrients. So we are potting them, and sending guests off with them to re-home them as far and wide as possible. With up to 600 bookings a year this could be an incredible incentive that I am soooooo proud of, thats the possibility of a small woodland each year! Can you imagine?

Here’s another day out idea that you can take from The Fold.

Llanthony Priory was founded around 1100 as an Augustinian priory by Norman knight William de Lacy and is one of the most dramatic historic sites in the Black Mountains.

If you simply want to explore the ruins or take one of the walks from here up onto the Black Mountains before stopping in the cafe or restaurant before heading back to your cabin for a pizza and hot tub, I cannot recommend the Priory enough!

CREATOR CALL OUT

We are looking for talented creators to collaborate with us across all of our cabins throughout May.

We are looking with two primary goals….

• Couples who can capture the feeling of staying here - slow mornings, wood fired hot tubs, outdoor cooking, evenings on the sun deck and everything that makes an escape to The Fold special.

• Creators with a craft, passion or unique perspective that would be elevated in our surroundings. Maybe you’re a creative writer, painter, yogi or foraging master. We want to see how you would experience The Fold.
