Found them on the doorstep three days ago. Two newborns. I'd watched birds building a nest nearby for weeks without ever clocking what birds they were (something small - sparrow size). Then this.
They must have fallen a good few metres. I don't know how long they were on the ground before I found them. They looked like they'd literally hatched about five minutes earlier.
We had a Brinsea hester in the house from hatching our own chickens. I found a nest we had kicking around on a windowsill - as you do! The internet told me cooked egg yolk and wet kitten food every 20 to 30 minutes. So that is what I am doing.
I am genuinely amazed they are still alive.
This is not what I had planned for this week. Not even close. But everything has been recognised around them.
And here we are, and apparently I am their mother now.
