Saturday 12th September… The Millpond Fishing Competition returns.

The question is… what’s lurking beneath the surface waiting to make an appearance? A respectable catch… or something that’s going to have anglers shouting “we’re gonna need a bigger boat!”
Whether you’re one of the anglers sat bankside with a brew, or a casual observer hoping somebody finally lands the legendary monster of The Millpond, it’s set to be a brilliant day around the water.

Good luck to everybody taking part, there is still time to enter if you desire... but remember, the fish always gets bigger in the story afterwards.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Bank Holiday Pig Roast Evening!

It was a brilliant night, with a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.

Once again, a big thank you to LDA Meats for serving up another superb pig roast, and to Mark Pearson for providing some great live music that had everyone singing along and even getting up for a dance.

We enjoyed Mark’s performance so much that we’ll definitely be looking to get him back for some of our event nights in 2027, so keep an eye out for future dates.

And finally, our very grateful thanks to Martin, Claire, Wullie and Nicky, who worked incredibly hard behind the bar keeping the drinks flowing throughout what turned out to be a very busy evening.

Thanks again to everyone who came along and helped make it such an enjoyable night.

Tomorrow night is the night!

We’re getting ready for another cracking evening at The Millpond, with a Pig Roast, live music from Mark Pearson and the bar open throughout the night.

It’s all happening Saturday 29th August, and we’ll also be raising money in support of the British Heart Foundation.

So if you’re staying with us, come and join the fun, pop along for the evening?

Good food, live music, a drink or two and plenty of good company.

SOME MUCH-NEEDED RAIN!

Well, this is one of those posts we don’t get to write very often… we’re actually welcoming the rain!

After such a long, hot and incredibly dry spell, the ground, grass, trees and of course the Millpond itself could certainly do with a good drink.

We’re normally asking for blue skies and sunshine, but today we’re quite happy watching the rain come down. There’s a first time for everything!

We spotted this and thought it was worth sharing.

The unwritten rules of campsites really are just about one thing — a little consideration for the people around you.

Don’t cut through someone else’s pitch, keep noise down late at night, leave the facilities as you’d hope to find them, keep dogs under control, and remember that not everybody wants to join your party at midnight!

Most of it is common sense, but a little respect goes a long way towards making sure everyone can relax and enjoy their stay.

A bit of essential work around The Millpond.

We’ve removed silt and reeds from the two channels to help keep the water flowing and, most importantly, reduce the risk of fish becoming stranded while the current drought conditions continue.

It’s not the prettiest job, but it’s an important one for looking after the fish and keeping the channels in the best condition we can during this prolonged dry spell.
