We wanted to share the story behind our Bingo Night, Hog Roast and Raffle on Saturday 20th June (full details available on our page)

As many of you know, The Millpond is proudly supporting the British Heart Foundation throughout the 2026 season. This event is separate from that, and is something we are doing to help our friends Neil and Christina Brown, who are raising money for St Michael’s Hospice Hereford.

Neil and Christina have decided to take part in The Great Wall of China Trek in October 2026 on behalf of St Michael’s Hospice. The trek will begin in Gubeikou, travel through Jinshanling and finish in Simatai, covering many different sections of the wall.

It will be a serious challenge, both mentally and physically. They will be walking for around 26 to 30 hours in total, across difficult terrain, including less visited sections of the wall where parts have almost completely worn away. It is not going to be easy, but they are determined to take on the challenge and raise as much as they can for St Michael’s Hospice.

This is a cause very close to their hearts. St Michael’s Hospice plays such an important role in our local community and has supported so many people across Hereford and the surrounding areas, including people close to Neil and Christina.

The hospice needs around £14,000 every day to cover its running costs, with much of that funding coming from the local community through donations, fundraising and support.

Neil and Christina have lots of fundraising events planned, and we are really pleased to be able to help them here at The Millpond. Every ticket bought, prize donated, raffle ticket purchased and bit of support given will help them towards their goal.

Please do come along on Saturday 20th June for what we hope will be a brilliant evening of good food, bingo, raffle prizes and great company, all while supporting a very worthwhile cause.

The hog roast will start at around 5:30pm, with pork rolls and a bowl of strawberries and cream available for £7.50.

Bingo and the raffle will start shortly after, with fantastic prizes to be won. Cash is preferred on the night, so please bring some along if you can.

A huge thank you to all the businesses who have supported this event so far, and to everyone who comes along, donates, shares the event or helps in any way.

Good food, great prizes, great company and a great cause.

Bingo Night, Hog Roast, Raffle and a fantastic cause.

As many of you know, The Millpond is proudly supporting the British Heart Foundation throughout the 2026 season. This event is separate from that, and is something a little more personal.

On Saturday 20th June, we will be helping to support our friends Neil and Christina Brown, who are raising money for St Michael’s Hospice Hereford. St Michael’s Hospice has supported someone close to them, so this is a cause that means a great deal personally.

Neil and Christina will be taking on the Great Wall of China Trek later in the year to raise funds, and this evening is all about helping them on their fundraising journey www.justgiving.com/page/neilandchristinabrown-neonheatinghereford

Fair play to our amazing staff, who somehow managed to surprise us on our very first Race Night by turning up in full fancy dress.

What an absolutely brilliant evening it turned out to be. Great laughs, fantastic outfits, plenty of fun, and best of all, over £200 raised for charity.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, joined in, supported the evening, bought tickets, had a flutter and helped make it such a success.

Our first Race Night is definitely one to remember.

A big thank you to Damon for giving our solar panels a well-earned clean.

It's one of those jobs that's easy to forget about because the panels are quietly getting on with their work day after day, but keeping them clean helps them perform at their best and make the most of the sunshine we're have been enjoying last week and hopefull next week too?

With the panels sparkling again, we're ready to make the most of those long summer days ahead.

And while we're talking about days ahead... who's joining us for Race Night tomorrow evening?

Will you be backing the favourites, picking horses based entirely on their names, or employing that tried-and-tested strategy of choosing whichever horse has the nicest colours? Whatever your method, it's always a brilliant evening of fun, laughter and friendly competition.

We'll see you at the starting line!

The carp have certainly making the most of the sunshine!

With the warmer weather last week, and spawning season in full swing, there are plenty of fish cruising around just below the surface, soaking up the heat and generally enjoying themselves. It's always a fantastic sight to see so many fish active around the lake, especially when the water is calm and you can watch them gliding through the margins.

This is one of those times of year when a walk around the lake can be just as enjoyable as sitting beside it with a rod in hand.

Have you spotted the carp sunbathing around the lake?

Who's feeling lucky?

This Saturday evening, 6th June, it's Race Night at The Millpond and you're invited to join us for an evening of fun, laughs and friendly competition.

Pick your horses, place your bets and cheer them on as they thunder towards the finish line. Whether you're a seasoned racing expert or someone who simply picks the horse with the funniest name, Race Night is always a fantastic social evening and a great chance to get together with fellow campers.

As with all of our charity events this season, we'll be raising money for the British Heart Foundation, so every race, every bet and every bit of fun helps support a fantastic cause.

Cat's Kitchen and The Millpond Bar will be open throughout the evening, so you can enjoy great food, drinks and plenty of entertainment while the races unfold.

Will you back a winner or end up backing the horse that appears to have stopped for a snack halfway round? There's only one way to find out!

New arrival... now that's what you call travelling off-grid Colin Hanton

We've seen some impressive touring setups at The Millpond over the years, but this one certainly catches the eye. Solar panels on the roof, portable solar arrays soaking up every ray of sunshine, a compact caravan and a classic Jaguar alongside it – a brilliant combination of old-school motoring and modern technology.

It's amazing what can now be powered by the sun alone. While most of us are looking for the nearest hook-up, some campers are happily harvesting enough energy to keep everything running wherever they pitch up.

And let's not ignore the little supervisor in the foreground, who appears to be making sure the solar installation meets all quality control standards.

Have you ever camped completely off-grid, or do you prefer the comfort of plugging in when you arrive?

Our 2026 No Mow May circles are back!

Every year we leave selected areas of the site to grow naturally through May, helping provide food and habitat for pollinators, insects and wildlife. What might just look like “long grass” is actually buzzing with life if you stop and look closely enough.

Bees, butterflies and other pollinators all benefit from these little wild patches, and it’s amazing how quickly nature takes over when you simply leave it alone for a while.

It’s that time of year again… barley straw season!

As the weather warms up and the sunshine starts doing its thing, ponds and lakes can quickly turn green with algae bloom. One of the natural methods often used to help keep algae under control is barley straw.

Pop it into the water early enough and, as it slowly breaks down, it can help reduce algae growth naturally over the warmer months.

Not the most glamorous job on site… but definitely one of the important ones unless you fancy fishing in what looks like pea soup by July.
