🍽️ WE’RE HIRING – KITCHEN PORTER

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our small, friendly team at The Rhydspence Inn, near Hay-on-Wye.

The role will include:
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
• Helping with deliveries and general kitchen duties
• Supporting the chefs during preparation and service
• Following food hygiene and safety procedures

Previous kitchen experience would be helpful, but it isn’t essential—we’re much more interested in finding someone dependable, positive and willing to get stuck in.

The role will include evening and weekend shifts.

👨‍🍳 WE’RE HIRING – CHEF DE PARTIE / JUNIOR CHEF

We’re looking for a passionate and reliable chef to join our friendly kitchen team at The Rhydspence Inn.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Junior Chef looking to progress or a Chef de Partie seeking a new challenge in an independently owned, food-led country inn.

The role includes:

• Preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard
• Taking responsibility for a section during service
• Working with our Head Chef to develop new dishes
• Helping to keep the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly

This is a full-time, permanent position, including evenings, weekends and some bank holidays.

We offer a competitive salary, staff discounts, ongoing training and opportunities for career progression.

Due to our rural location and limited public transport, a driving licence and access to a car are essential.

🍷 NEW FINE WINE OF THE MONTH 🍷

Taking us through the rest of July and August is the rather special 2005 Château Maison Blanche from the Médoc.

From one of Bordeaux’s finest modern vintages, this Cru Bourgeois has aged beautifully. Expect ripe black fruits alongside developed notes of cedar, to***co, graphite and forest floor, with polished tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Now drinking at its peak, it’s a wonderful example of mature Médoc—and a rare chance to enjoy a wine of this age by the glass.

☀️ The sunshine’s sticking around, and with the warmer weather we’ve added some lighter seasonal dishes to the menu alongside your usual favourites.

One dish we’re particularly excited about is our Lemon & Caper Stuffed Pork Fillet, served with crispy Parmentier potatoes and a fresh mint, broad bean & pea salad. Light, vibrant and full of summer flavour, while still being satisfyingly delicious.
