We took the grandson to The Weir Garden/nationaltrust this morning to take part in the Easter egg hunt just 15 minutes away from Cottage Farm, on the edge of Hereford. It was well organised with plenty of volunteers manning car park and entrance, in the garden we were greeted by two human/rabbits beautifully dressed and very interactive with the children. After a lovely walk around the gardens we ended up at Peter Rabbits home where the elusive Easter eggs could be found in a treasure chest. Well done the National trust, and great to see large numbers of families in attendance

The weather forecast for this weekend is for a mini heatwave. Perfect for people on holiday. The marquees are up on the Hay festival show ground and preparations for May 28th are well under way, lets hope it is dry for them again this year. If you are thinking of attending the festival we still have one room available. Give us a ring know 01497 831496

The smell of freshly cut grass and wind blown fresh sheets on the bed, now I know spring has arrived. If you are a writer and looking for a quiet space for writing, come and stay at Cottage Farm. You can sit out in the garden or look out the window onto a landscape full of inspiration. If you are writing local history or searching for family we can help you with that too. check out www.cottagefarmmiddlewood.co.uk

A very grey and overcast day, but hopefully our lady walkers due in this evening will have enjoyed walking this section of the Hereford Trail. The views from the top of Merbach at the back of the house look out across seven old counties and well worth the up hill climb. Stay at Cottage Farm for the Wye Valley walk or Hereford Trail.

new mattresses delivered today ready for our first guests next weekend. The daffodils are managing to hold their heads up despite the weather and their golden colour is keeping us cheerful.

Looking forward to our first guests of the year next weekend. Should still be some daffodils about to put into the rooms or even some tulips with the way they are growing. We could do with some grass for the horses too but hopefully the rain from the last few days will help.

Our Story

Ground level bedrooms with private or shared bathroom look out onto green fields across our cottage garden. We have an additional three acres of land some of which is planted with orchard trees native to Hereford in the 1850's, a naturally occurring pond, chickens and Miniature horses. We are passionate about the county of Hereford and providing a quality service for all our guests without charging for all the extra's.

I am passionate about Herefordshire having lived here all my life and very happy to promote the many wonderful places to visit. I can arrange an itinerary for your stay based on your personal preferences for days out. we can supply maps for walking or driving along with leaflets or general info on the place of your destination including a potted history.
