Another busy week at Wannies Retreat with a variety of guests. Lots of children enjoying the space, toys, books, hot tub and of course our fantastic dark skies.

A recent guest took some fantastic pictures which I'll share and it was interesting as he used to be involved with the Northumberland National Park Rescue Team.

The drone operator for the team lives near us and he needs to do so many hours of practice and we allow him to come onto the farm to do this. I have attached some of his photos as strangely he was here the same day as our guest!

Like the air ambulance, the rescue teams are vital in these remote parts of beautiful Northumberland. Thank you to each and everyone of you 💪🏻

It's hard to put into words what the night sky can be like here, truly magical.

Lots of our guests love visiting Kielder! Whether it is for outdoor adventure or night-time star gazing. Bring your bikes and keep them in our secure bike shed and take them to Kielder bike tracks for lots of fun 👍🏻🚲🌲🌳

Calving 2026 is underway! This years letter is F so get your thinking caps on please. This little guy is Fernando and he was born out of a heifer (this is her 1st calf)

As a pedigree herd of Luing cattle our girls all get a name and it runs alphabetically each year with this year being F.

An update on our calendar 📅
The only school holiday dates left are 4th August to 12th August and 26th and 27th October.

We have some mid week availability but this is limited and only 10 weekends left in the year.

It feels like it's been a while and for that I apologise. It's been a busy, busy year! We are making lots of changes on the farm which I am sure our guests will get to enjoy. Whilst we will still be producing top quality meat and breeding animals we will also be enhancing nature. 🐑🐮🌳We already have a huge amount of wildlife, rare flowers etc but with big plans going ahead we will have so much more! I'm keen to get some wildlife cameras set up so you can go online and monitor the wildlife for yourself!

Dave and I have both had operations this December which has made juggling everything tough but we have got through it and we have had a brilliant Christmas with our little family.

Wannies Retreat has been so busy with fantastic guests. I always feel so privileged to have all sorts of guests staying here and I love reading the kind words in our visitors book and talking to guests about what they have been up to and why they chose us to spend quality time with loved ones.

As a heads up 2026 is booking up fast! February holidays are booked up, Easter holidays only has 18th and 19th April available, May holiday is booked up and summer holiday dates are filling up. Be quick to get your preferred dates in and as always, any questions please just ask.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy New Year and I hope 2026 is a magical one.

5 years ago the whole village were awaiting the arrival of a train. With no track and tight roads it was going to be interesting! For me it was just amazingly stressful and my anxiety was through the roof 🙃 😅

It arrived, fashionably late, and was put in position where it has sat happy ever since. It has been filled with laughter, happiness, togetherness and had the pleasure of hosting the best people ever!!

Thank you to all who made our ideas come to life. I know it was challenging at times but I reckon you loved it 😉😬

Here is to the next 5 years of welcoming repeat guests and new 🥂💜 xx

I'm sure you will all be with me in congratulating our recent guests on their engagement 💍 🥰
We have had lots of honeymooners stay at Wannies Retreat but I think this is the first proposal 🤔
I know I'm biased but what a setting to pop the question 😁

We have limited dates left for 2025. Winter breaks are brilliant for dark skies, cosy fire pit, marshmallow toasting and taking it easy in the warm waters of the hot tub.

As a heads up for 2026, we only have 3 days left in the February holidays, 2 days left in the Easter holidays. No days left in the May holidays! Be quick 😬
