The pressures of running a modern pub business have never been higher. At the heart of those pressures is the unfair cumulative tax burden that they are facing with 40p of every £1 spent in your local venues going to the Government. This is simply unfair and unsustainable. The direct loss of skilled jobs, investment, growth, community hubs and long-standing pub businesses is clear for all to see. Presently, an average of 27 hospitality venues are closing every week nationally!

The support you need from Government is to align with Europe at 10% on all pub sales, a full reform of the Business Rates regime to level the playing field with other sectors and the ability to finance local job opportunities for our community.

It has never been more important for the hospitality sector to be heard, and we are backing Tom Kerridge’s “VATs The Problem” campaign, launched two days ago, which has already got over 69,000 signatures from across the UK, supporting a new 10% rate of VAT.

At the heart of the campaign, we are seeking a fair deal that will allow our sector to survive and thrive. Thank you for your support.
