We have been providing self-catered cottage accommodation for 16 years. We began by spending our own holidays and weekends in one of the cottages. 🚫The dam wall at Kielder Water will be closed to all vehicles on Friday 13th February 2026 🚫

Parking will be available at Tower Knowe.

The Lakeside Way will remain open through Hawkhope and the dam wall over this period. Access will be open for Saturday 14th February 2026.

Kielder Forest Drive - now closed for winter!

One ot the UK's most scenic gravel roads is now closed until 1st May 2026.

the Kielder Forest Drive straddles the North Tyne and Redesdale Valleys, an area which catches the winter conditions and due to this the road is closed for safety each winter/ early spring.

The drive is still open for walking, cycling and horse riding.

We recommend checking the weather forecasts and ensuring someone knows where you are before venturing out on this 12-mile forest road.

Just in case you didn’t know… Sara Cox starts her great Northern Marathon Challenge in Kielder tomorrow morning - and we are thrilled to welcome her!

This incredible challenge, for Children In Need, sees her running five marathons in five days ending in Leeds on Friday afternoon.

Come and cheer her on - and along the route - as she sets off from Tower Knowe at 8.10am.

You can follow her route and progress on BBC Radio 2 and on the BBC website which will have live updates.
