Here are a few bits of feedback form lovely customers who have stayed recently:
Julie:
"A beautiful, welcoming cottage right in the heart of the village. The owner, Linda, is exceptionally accommodating and friendly, always going out of her way to ensure a comfortable stay. We return frequently to this cottage, as we have family in this lovely, charming area. I would highly recommend this accommodation—it truly feels like a home from home."
William:
"A fantastic, charming cottage in Allendale Town. The downstairs open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is lovely, spacious, and very welcoming, while upstairs there are two comfortable double bedrooms, each with its own modern bathroom/shower facilities. Perfectly situated right on the town square, just a stone’s throw from shops, cafes, and pubs, it’s an ideal base for exploring.
Allendale Town itself is fascinating historically and beautifully situated for walking and discovering the surrounding countryside. Hexham is just a 20-minute drive, and Hadrian’s Wall and Vindolanda are also within easy reach, making it perfect for sightseeing further afield. I can’t wait to return!"
Carol:
"I have been to Allendale before, but never stayed at this particular property. I have stayed at the house next door previously, and being right in the centre of the square is very convenient—yet it’s peaceful and not too noisy. The open-plan dining, kitchen, and living area downstairs, along with a downstairs loo, provided a wonderful, spacious area to relax and unwind. The property was spotlessly clean and had all the essentials you could need.
The kitchen overlooks the garden, which is a lovely, bright space, and it even has a BBQ (which I didn’t use). There’s a couple of chairs and a bench, though it might benefit from a small outdoor table for drinks or snacks while sitting outside. There’s also a small wooden table in the ante room leading to the garden that could be used for this purpose. For those travelling with dogs, there’s a dedicated area by the back door to store dog bowls and food, which I found very handy—especially since bowls are already provided, saving the hassle of packing extras.
The garden includes a parking area, which could be tight for a larger vehicle, but I used the square for parking, which had plenty of spaces.
Upstairs, the bedrooms are comfortable and well-appointed, each with its own dedicated bathroom. I only used one bedroom, which had a comfy bed and an open wardrobe adequate for storing clothes.
I had a fantastic solo holiday with my dog. We visited Hadrian's Wall’s multiple times, and there’s a nearby wood that makes for a great walk. The village has a nice coffee shop, an Indian takeaway, and the Allendale Brew Co shop. There are also plenty of shops in the square, two coffee shops Emma's Coffee & Sweets and Allendale Forge Cafe Ltd, and a Allendale Co-operative Society Ltd. I visited The Lion House, Allendale pub for a meal, which was very enjoyable, and had a lovely breakfast at Tearooms, which is dog-friendly. The Neil Cole's Adventures in Science Fiction: Museum of Sci-fi is just a stone’s throw away from the property, making it a fun and convenient nearby attraction.
Overall, this property is well-located, comfortable, and very dog-friendly, making it a perfect base for exploring Allendale and the surrounding area."
