Relax on the decking as the ferries glide in and out of Heysham Port and the sun melts behind Lakeland. Spacious and luxurious holiday lodge on Ocean Edge park with stunning views of Morecambe Bay and a host of things to do on the doorstep. Ocean Edge is open all year round, is 10 minutes from the beach, and is pet friendly. On site there is a convenience store, bar, restaurant, cafe & beer garden

. There is an indoor pool & sauna, playground, soft play area & sports court. The resort has all year round entertainment for all the family. The entertainment schedule is jam packed during peak time with both daytime and evening activities. During off peak dates, the schedule is more relaxed with a lighter variety of activities in the day and evening. The park is on the doorstep of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales with the best that Lancashire has to offer just a short drive away. The lodge itself is large and luxurious. An open plan design lends a spacious feel and the plot is one of the best on the site with stunning views out across Morecambe Bay. A large decked area with table and seating offers the perfect place to relax and watch the sun dwindle over the horizon. Inside there are a double bedroom and twin bedroom comfortably sleeping a family of four. Four additional fold out beds provide accomodation for up to eight people. The master double bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower while the main bathroom features a bath and shower. Both bedrooms have large walk in wardrobes with a surprising amount of storage space available. There is ample parking around the lodge, enough for at least two cars. The beach and sea are literally spitting distance from the patio. Everybody likes lights, right?

At the Shrimp Shack we get the best Ibiza-style sunsets. You've gotta see it to believe it. But we also know that when the sun melts away behind Lakeland the temperature drops and we crave the warmth.

Two new additions to the Shrimp Shack and one is a biggie..!

CELESTRON
I've set up the high-powered binoculars & tripod to track the boats in and out of Heysham. You can look across to the Lakeland Fells and Barrow Offshore Wind Farm. In the other direction you can see Fleetwood, Cleveleys, and Blackpool Tower. Bring it all into focus and see what you can spot.

WIFINITY
We now have permanent WiFi. After a long research phase testing & investigating numerous options we have landed on the Parkdean offering and have purchased a WiFi package for the rest of the season. The Three router in the photograph is one option that bit the dust as being too flaky. Wifinity is the way to go at this moment in time and the TV was rock solid for the football last night.

I never tire of the simple pleasures that Morecambe has to offer.

The Eden Project is all systems go and ground will be broken in the next few weeks. It's getting real...

There is a new bar next to the Old Pier Bookshop where I got a pint of chocolate stout for just £3.90.

And speaking of the Old Pier - if you have not visited this quirky emporium it's high time you did.

Morecambe Prom even looks good when the angry clouds roll in. The backdrop of Lakeland Fells adds gloss to the vista.

A drink in the Eric Bartholomew where the atmosphere is crackling and the Leffe is cheap.

Fish n chips by the sea and Radford's pie n chips by the Heysham horses.

The simple things are often the most pleasurable. To experience all this and more book yourself in at The Shrimp Shack. Plenty of dates free over the summer.

Well stocked kitchen cupboards might not spring to mind as an immediate holiday requirement. But we find it's the little things that can make the biggest difference.

At the Shrimp Shack you will arrive to many of the basics covered - tea, coffee, condiments, sauces, oil, and cooking spices.

Shower gel and shampoo in the bathrooms and even bubble bath for that long soak you didn't realise you wanted.
