Really wet day today at lower longwood, there is major ditch works going on (most of them are completely caved in with trees or just not there at all anymore) so water flowing all over the joint! not ideal, my tiny ditches have been working extra hard today!
found a lovely turkey tail stick bobbing about in one of them though and brought it home. 🍄

✨ A big warm hello to all our lovely new followers! ✨
Thanks so much for entering our competition – we thought it was time to introduce you to our little slice of magic at Lower Longwood…

Our cabin Woods Edge is tucked away in 100 acres of wild Devon farmland. Think:
🌳 Meadows & new woodlands
🌿 the old “long wood” that feels like a mini temperate rainforest (yes, ferns growing on the trees)
🐦 Wildflower meadows filled with goldfinches in summer – a Charm! or finches
🦆 A hidden pond on the woodland trail… keep your eyes peeled for the heron.
🦌 Deer everywhere. . (we love them really)
-we are very much leaving it to become as wild as it likes-

Your cabin sits in its own private wildflower meadow with parking + EV charging, all the mod cons (hot water & a flushing loo – we’re not that wild 😉)…
PLUS a wood-fired hot tub and a rooftop sundeck for sipping your morning coffee while watching the barn owl glide over the fields (If you are early)

🍳 Fully kitted kitchen
🧺 Welcome hampers available including Pizza! 🍕
🔥 And don’t forget to add on a experience for the ultimate stay.

We’re based in Beaworthy (Highampton), right in the heart of Devon:
🏖 Bude beach – 30 mins
🍺 Hatherleigh – 10 mins (don’t miss a pint at )
⛰ Dartmoor & Okehampton – 20 mins

we have the amazing medical herbalist Jenny Carden coming to for a special 🌻 Summer Foraging Medicinal Plant Walk🌻
we are so excited for you to visit our (very) wild haven in the heart of Devon.

🌼Summer Foraging Medicinal Plant Walk
🌻Saturday 26th July , 2pm-4.30pm
🌞Lower Longwood Church road Highampton.

A special chance to experience meadow, woodland and hedgerow foraging for medicinal plants, in a beautifully looked after rewilding project not usually open to the public.

Medical herbalist Jenny Carden will show you which plants can be foraged, how to identify them and how they can benefit your health~ connecting with the natural world in a slightly different way and working with plants to enhance your own general wellbeing.

We will gather and taste plants, learning how we can instinctively recognise medicinal properties through flavour and appearance. For those of you who wish to/if weather permits, we’ll finish with a short relxing guided meditation or tea tasting to further get to know a plant of your choice. Materials to dry, tincture or glycerite herbs to take home will be provided.

Exciting find in one of the *old* meadows The Changing-forget-me-not possibly ssp. dubia. growing in a damp spot. The flowers of the changing-forget-me-not (Myosotis discolor) first open creamy-white or pale yellow before changing to blue and sometimes pink. see the last photo to see how TEEENY it is compared to a water-forget-me-not. 🥰 so cute!
