Our staff party… and a very well-earned one at that! Yesterday our Farmhouse and Barns team got together for a fun afternoon and evening of eating, drinking, laughing and a little healthy competition.

There was a team treasure hunt across the grounds, garden games, followed by a Farmhouse vs Barns tug of war, with the Barns team just pipping it to the win. Then it was time to gather around one long table beneath the historic Barn beams for a BBQ feast of steak, lamb, chorizo and hearty seasonal salads, finished with baked cheesecake. There were team awards, more games, plenty of laughs and, inevitably, some dancing.

After an incredibly busy few months of weddings, events, packed services, long days and late nights, it was a chance to switch off, spend time together and celebrate the brilliant bunch of people who make The Farmhouse and Barns what they are. Safe to say, we made the most of it!

Lots of lovely homegrown ingredients making their way from the no-dig garden and into the kitchen this week 🌱

Kwame, our Chef de Partie, with a fresh harvest of courgette flowers, Jemma our pastry chef picking edible flowers, and our gardener Matt delivering another haul of beautifully sweet tomatoes straight from the polytunnel.

It’s one of our favourite things about this time of year. Seeing what’s ready to pick, bringing it into the kitchen and letting what’s growing right here at Redcoats find its way onto the menu.

Fresh, seasonal and, for some ingredients, about as local as it gets. Come and taste what’s growing at the Farmhouse for yourself. Booking is highly advised, but if popping by we will do our best to find you a table.

Specials this week…
A little celebration of the season, inspired by what’s growing locally and in our own no-dig kitchen garden. Our specials give the chefs the chance to cook with whatever is at its very best right now, so there’s often something different making its way onto the menu.

This week, that includes homegrown Trombetta courgette salad with goat’s cheese fondue, candied hazelnuts and blackberries picked fresh from the garden.

Pan-fried fillet of stone bass with squid ink risotto, garlic aioli and fried calamari.

And to finish, a passionfruit and peach chocolate mousse trifle.

Come and take a seat at our table and enjoy the flavours of the season. Booking is always recommended, but if you’re passing by, we’ll always do our best to find you a table.

Friday 14th August
Join us around our long garden table for an exceptional five-course open-air feast, celebrating produce harvested from our own no-dig garden alongside ingredients from trusted local farmers and producers. With free-flowing selected wines, live music and wonderful company, it’s one of our favourite evenings of the summer.

Fresh from our no-dig kitchen garden and straight into the Farmhouse kitchen. These beautifully ripe tomatoes are starring in our refreshing summer tomato gazpacho, while it’s been another busy week in the garden with Castelfranco chicory and pumpkins now planted out, and the first French beans, runner beans and cucumbers being harvested.

It’s one of the things we love most about this time of year. The garden is in full swing, the chefs are cooking with what’s ready, and the menu continues to evolve with the season.
