A drizzly start to the day was rewarded by the appearance of a Glossy Ibis. This member of the Heron family is easily recognised by its long, Curlew-like downcurved bill. The name is derived from the bird's iridescent plumage, look out for those gorgeous tones of green, bronze and purple. Most commonly spotted in hotter climates in continental Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and Africa, there's been a recent spike of Glossy Ibis in the UK this autumn. What a treat!
